Randomness XVII: The Madness of the Quorum

My gaming blog, which I've been doing for over a decade, has about 125 entries. I do realize that at that stuff comes and goes, but with the All Mighty Algorithm running just about everything these days, I doubt I'll do much beyond scream into the void.

Not that I mind, I just start to over think things. Especially given how this year has gone... <_<

Oh, I have no illusions about reaching an audience or anything... I'm just proud of myself for keeping it going for so long.

Just gonna say, when caring for an infant (or toddler) is NOT when you want to be hangry. The temptation to flush them down the toilet becomes a little too strong when you’re hangry

Yeah...

Hamsterling is still under weight. Going back again next week.

If it's like every other stove coils I've known in the past, then forget what I said about moka pots being quick.

Moka pots not very large. My own pot is barely 11cm wide. And the center parts of coils don't even heat up, so you'll be waiting for it to boil for a very long time. It's doable, and not even that uncommon (place it off-center on the coil), but will require more patience.

I admit I've been spoiled ever since I got my induction range ten years ago.

Apparently, it's why Italian gas ranges have one tiny burner among the others exclusively for the use of moka pots.

Grammum has a metal plate she puts over the burner and puts the pot on the plate. Just a tiny regular pot, but it works.

We went on a little trip south to get away from things and relax and play some rpgs.

If the weather holds we may do some exploring but the main point was to get away and relax.  Got to meet our neighbors today...

We have coils, so I've always wondered how effective such would be with a moka pot.  Still tempting to get one, just to try.  I know it's the method my dad uses mainly.

Not as rude as waking someone up at early o'clock with a grinder, and the point would be made rather clear. Or so I'd hope.

Ooooh, those grinders can be rather lovely!

Point taken.

In other topics, is anyone else tired of scam calls that start, when it's actually a real person on the phone, with "Oh, hey I'm glad you picked up, I was just about to ______..."? If you call my phone and don't immediately (1) identify yourself and (2) state why or for whom you are calling then I am already not caring what you have to say, or am about to get real nasty with you. Especially when it's the same voice/person I've heard over and over for months, with a different number coming up every time.

If my plans for world domination succeed and I ascend to the post of Lord High Emperor… …should that dreadful day come: I WILL HAVE AN INQUISITORIAL ARMY. At least two divisions of it will spend their time hunting down these jokers. Their auto-dialling machines will be destroyed and their heads will be impaled on pike-staves.

If you are reading this and work in that industry get a better job sooner rather than later….

This is acceptable. Especially since I am pretty sure some of them are probably serial killers (or I have watched too much Hannibal).

But seriously, this guy has called here at least a dozen times in the past 4 months, always the same routine, never saying a name, so I finally told him what he could go do to himself (yes, I know, impolite on my part, but the stress levels are fairly high currently and I wasn't in a mood for it). And somehow I'm the bad guy at home, because I didn't hear his scam ploy out.  My visiting sister felt morally compelled to call the number back and apologize. Fingers crossed he doesn't turn out to be a psycho because that probably gave him more info on his caller ID than he originally had.

Can 2020 just be over already?

Hey,  to keep y'all updated, no, I'm not dead. I'm just gonna be on a bit of a hiatus for a while now, so don't expect many posts from me in the near future. Life happened.

And when I do die, I'll be sure to post here and tell you. :poke:

To update further on this: my life has just become really busy, with school, play practice, all-state chorus, and a slew of other stuff, I just really don't have any free time. And the free time I do have I usually spend on other things. I really hate to put y'all on the back burner though, and I'm going to start trying to give you some more space in my life, as a few things will be clearing up soon. Probably starting around this weekend. So, in case you were worried, there's that. I'll go now. ::P:

In other news, we got about four inches of snow today.

Dad got his full cast today. They gave him a colored one, which he isn't happy about, as the color he got represents a political party here in the US (not going to say which one, just that he isn't happy). I wonder why they didn't have the generic off-white color (I didn't take him to the appointment). Did another x-ray on, doc is impressed that it already seems to be healing well. Bad news: he's been complaining about pain in his shoulder, they examined and he has a slight tear in his rotator cuff on the same side as the broken leg. No MRI since he still had a good amount of strength in it, but will re-evaluate it in a few weeks. Most likely will need physical therapy on that, and here's hoping he doesn't tear it further, we don't need a surgery on top of the broken leg.

Sent pictures of Molly's incision to the vet last night as instructed, waiting to hear back. It looked good yesterday, but we caught Dixie licking her incision today, and it looks a little pink in one spot. I'm wondering if Dixie licked part of a scab off. Will mention it to the doctor when he calls to give further instructions for Molly's care, maybe he'll tell us to put some antibiotic ointment on it.

It is also a very driech day here, been raining on and off since yesterday. No sunshine at all, and the lack of it is influencing people's moods who need that sunshine.

There's always paint.

That's not the reason, at least here. Apparently they were going to go for a patriotic cast of red, white, and blue, but didn't have enough red or blue, so they just went with a solid color. The color only bothers him, but I told him he's not going any place, just to the doctor's office and back in a few weeks. He'll live and deal.

I honestly wanted the off-white one because my markers to write on his cast are all black ink and won't show up well on the red or blue. I was going to write subliminal messages for him to stare at while he lies down with it elevated (to condition him to not do what he was doing when he broke it) and now he won't be able to read them.

Sounds like time to break out the whistle or the mini-air horn.

The easy fix is to put a $0.05 a call tax on all autodialers.

Addendum:  If that doesn't chill the problem, double it and keep doubling it until the profits are all going for taxes.
