Well, I've been blogging for over a decade. Schedules come and go, but as long as you keep at it, you'll find that suddenly you've written hundreds, then thousands of posts.

Currently over 2500 posts on my blog... wow...

My gaming blog, which I've been doing for over a decade, has about 125 entries. I do realize that at that stuff comes and goes, but with the All Mighty Algorithm running just about everything these days, I doubt I'll do much beyond scream into the void.

Not that I mind, I just start to over think things. Especially given how this year has gone... <_<

Dad got his full cast today. They gave him a colored one, which he isn't happy about, as the color he got represents a political party here in the US (not going to say which one, just that he isn't happy). I wonder why they didn't have the generic off-white color (I didn't take him to the appointment). Did another x-ray on, doc is impressed that it already seems to be healing well. Bad news: he's been complaining about pain in his shoulder, they examined and he has a slight tear in his rotator cuff on the same side as the broken leg. No MRI since he still had a good amount of strength in it, but will re-evaluate it in a few weeks. Most likely will need physical therapy on that, and here's hoping he doesn't tear it further, we don't need a surgery on top of the broken leg.

Sent pictures of Molly's incision to the vet last night as instructed, waiting to hear back. It looked good yesterday, but we caught Dixie licking her incision today, and it looks a little pink in one spot. I'm wondering if Dixie licked part of a scab off. Will mention it to the doctor when he calls to give further instructions for Molly's care, maybe he'll tell us to put some antibiotic ointment on it.

It is also a very driech day here, been raining on and off since yesterday. No sunshine at all, and the lack of it is influencing people's moods who need that sunshine.

The coloured casts (at least up here) are a stronger material (not sure what exactly anymore, it's been a while since the youngest had one).

May be helpful for a leg, especially if he is more likely to accidentally be putting weight on it or whacking it into things.

Not sure if there is a reason for the colour, other than maybe to let whoever is cutting it off that it isn't just plaster.

Around here I've mostly seen purple and pink as the main colours used, but then it has been mostly kids too.

I could have used one way back when I had a walking cast in grade 9 (corrective surgery, not a break) as I had that thing wrecked by the time they cut it off....

Got an air brush?  Could change the colour pretty quick :poke:

@ManvsMini just add stars or stripes, depending on the color, and you have a patriotic cast. If it’s stars, you could even get glow in the dark stars :ik_oops:

Up a lot last night, mostly due to the hamsterling, but also Lucy had another seizure early this morning. She's better, but... but.

Have another pediatrician visit this afternoon. Gonna try to squeeze in a nap late this morning. Gotta eat something though. Stomach is growling at me.

COFFEE

Just gonna say, when caring for an infant (or toddler) is NOT when you want to be hangry. The temptation to flush them down the toilet becomes a little too strong when you’re hangry

Oh. Em. Gee. You will NOT believe what just happened.

I cleaned off my painting desk enough to actually USE it!

And I actually touched three figures with the purpose of hobbying and not just moving them about!

Then got completely sidelined by family discussion and decisions, but that's neither here nor there.

I HOBBIED on a day I specifically took off to hobby.

I apologize to all the denizens of the underworld right now for their sudden frozen precipitation.

This would be nice to say myself, but alas it is not meant to be right now.

That's not the reason, at least here. Apparently they were going to go for a patriotic cast of red, white, and blue, but didn't have enough red or blue, so they just went with a solid color. The color only bothers him, but I told him he's not going any place, just to the doctor's office and back in a few weeks. He'll live and deal.

I honestly wanted the off-white one because my markers to write on his cast are all black ink and won't show up well on the red or blue. I was going to write subliminal messages for him to stare at while he lies down with it elevated (to condition him to not do what he was doing when he broke it) and now he won't be able to read them.

In other topics, is anyone else tired of scam calls that start, when it's actually a real person on the phone, with "Oh, hey I'm glad you picked up, I was just about to ______..."? If you call my phone and don't immediately (1) identify yourself and (2) state why or for whom you are calling then I am already not caring what you have to say, or am about to get real nasty with you. Especially when it's the same voice/person I've heard over and over for months, with a different number coming up every time.

Welp, definitely not going to complain about second attempt at crockpot chicken stew.  It isn't as thick as I want it (I like mine to be almost gumbo consistency for thickness), but man is it tasty.

Hubby thinks it has too much parmesan in it (he doesn't really like that cheese) but he finished his bowl before I finished mine, so....   (in all fairness, I do agree with him, the aftertaste becomes a touch too sharp, but it's still rather good - probably shouldn't have added in those two extra fox sized pinches of parmesan petals, but meh, world won't end)

Yeah. Not sure how Red Deer and south are, but right here it's not good. It's still October, and I'm already sick of winter.

Normally winter doesn't bother me a lot but yeah, I'm feeling this right now. I needed a week or so more of the hot weather.

We've got about 3-4 times that much. Roads are pretty slippery right now and I'd rather stay home but I'm driving the wife to Moose Jaw in a bit again to see her mom. It was bad enough this morning that she didn't want to go on her own. She's a decent driver but nervous on snow and ice. When I went to the farm around 8:30 this morning there was a semi stuck on the edge of the road just out of town. Big hill there and it couldn't get up because of the little bit of ice and snow. By the time I came back it was gone, the highways department had dumped some salt and sand and it was almost thawed off.

Been there but managed to not do that. It was a near thing a few times with each of the kids.

The snow has gotten heavier, though it's still large fluffy flakes. As expected, it's gotten pretty slippery out there and even with my caution I found myself going in directions I didn't want to go. Over a dozen accidents in regina right now because people can't transition from summer driving. The weather is supposed to get significantly warmer for Hallowe'en though, so there might be some hope.

Oh, I have no illusions about reaching an audience or anything... I'm just proud of myself for keeping it going for so long.

Don't worry, soon he'll start eating more. And then exercising more. And then start hitting the gym. Your son will be beefcake.

I wonder if driech and dreck are related?  I have used "dreck" in a sentence before…

If it's like every other stove coils I've known in the past, then forget what I said about moka pots being quick.

Moka pots not very large. My own pot is barely 11cm wide. And the center parts of coils don't even heat up, so you'll be waiting for it to boil for a very long time. It's doable, and not even that uncommon (place it off-center on the coil), but will require more patience.

I admit I've been spoiled ever since I got my induction range ten years ago.

Apparently, it's why Italian gas ranges have one tiny burner among the others exclusively for the use of moka pots.

Grammum has a metal plate she puts over the burner and puts the pot on the plate. Just a tiny regular pot, but it works.

We went on a little trip south to get away from things and relax and play some rpgs.

If the weather holds we may do some exploring but the main point was to get away and relax.  Got to meet our neighbors today...
