Pretty much what I thought.  The 10-day looks pretty good if I order today or tomorrow.

No Simple Green, but a bath will definitely be in order.  The office has a nice grease-cutter in the kitchen that's been used on other minis.  I hadn't heard about using lemon juice before (or, if I have, it didn't stick in my brain): how long do you leave it in the bath?  Or is it just a scrub?

It's for the Nativity: Holy Family, Three Wiseguys....Wise Men, Manger, Shepherd and Flock.

No, I don't know why I'm capitalizing like that.

Anyway...Sounds like a bottle of primer is the way to go (I've got other metals and a couple resins waiting in the wings, just not sure when I'll get the gumption to get to them).  I'll just have to get an order together soon.

I will use anywhere from 4 hours to overnight for the mild acid.  Followed by a good scrub with an old toothbrush, then the soap scrub.

Judgement is involved here depending on how oxidized the surface of the part is.  the more oxidation the longer the soak.

Hope this helps.

Mark me down as one of those who didn't receive a mysterious email.

If I did, it went into the spam folder and when I flushed the folder I didn't catch "reaper" in the header.

Yesterday my tests came back negative and I was cut loose from self-isolation, Public Health said it was alright to go out in public and be a nuisance again.

I. for one, thought you had carried on being a fine example of a public nuisance…

The cake is my housemates favourite chocolate cake recipe. Enjoy!

225g self raising flour

30g high quality cocoa

100g unsalted butter

200g condensed milk

100g best quality dark chocolate

2eggs, beaten

preheat the oven to 180°c and line 2 cake tins. Sieve the flour, cocoa and a pinch of salt into a large bowl and set aside. Put the sugar, butter, condensed milk and 100 ml of just boiled water into a saucepan and heat it until melted and smooth. Wait until it's cooled down a wee bit and then slowly add the dry mix and then finally, the eggs. Pour into the two tins and cook for 25+ minutes(depends on your oven) Don't use the skewer trick as the cake is almost brownie textue, but the top of it will be firm when it's done

for the ganache

250 g best quality chocolate. We use a mix of dark and milk and we added some whipped creamto give it a bit of body.

For the filling.

It's basically buttercream. 200g soft butter and as much icing sugar that you need to make it nice and sweet :)

Thank you for posting the recipe. Even if I cannot bake. Due to oven that is dead, dead, dead, dead, dead… …or haunted. Or Something. It got in the habit of making sparky bzzzzt, brzzzzzt, noises with all switches in the OFF setting. So I got in the habit of not trusting it with electrical power.

For once Loki didn't get any because we locked him upstairs

I was wondering why there were no icing paw-prints. Or face-prints. ::D:

So I have one of the letters from the email. Apparently other people will have more? I can see one above. Is this the place to bring this all together?

Once again, I am impressed by the restraint that your cats show. We accidentally locked one of our cats in a bathroom for a half hour one time. By the time I realized what we had done he had torn a small mirror off the back of the door, knocked all my toiletries into the sink, turned the water on (in the sink full of toiletries), shredded a roll of TP, pooped on the rug, and then somehow managed to wedge that rug under the washing machine. If I had done that on purpose I can only imagine the horrible retribution I would have faced. I feel like one of us doesn't actually have cats. Either I have feral little devils masquerading as cats, or you have angelic beings doing the same.

Well ours aren't perfect- Loki will chew his way through most boxes given the chance and his little brother will howl his disapproval if we give him the wrong type of food, but they are uncommonly well behaved for cats. A friend has commented that they're better trained than his dog!

Mind you, they were pretty much feral when we got them at 12 weeks old so we did an absolute tonne of training and desensitization with them so that might have had something to do with it. It took almost 6 months before we could hold Kurogane without him trying to frantically wriggle free.

So I've been listening to Youtube Music as I was a Play listener till Google decided to drop it (hmmm sounds familiar), anyways I've been discovering new bands, one is Brothers of Metal. I heard them in a mix of Sabaton & Powerwolf the other night at work. The song was "Yggdrasil" & with the male vocalist I thought it was the lead singer from Sabaton singing a duet with a female singer. Much to my surprise it was a totally new band. One of their newer releases is "Hel" & this song is one of my current favorite songs to listen to right now!!

Some of the lyrics:

"Master of the underworld, the queen of twilight
Sovereign of the mortals, she will claim your soul
The mistress of the void
With your death in her mighty grasp
When your path is at its' end

Goddess of the underground
Who's to blame
For the pain of the wicked?
Helbound in her lonely crown
And only the one eyed knows why "

Also is ends with Ylva Eriksson (the female lead) singing na na nas at the end, it's haunting. I'd love to be able to capture just that part of the song & use it this Saturday as it would be perfect as background music when they encounter the un-killable, tormented spirit of the woman of the house they are trapped in.

Including that Grump is familiar with obscure Swedish soft porn from the 1960s.

He told me that porn used to sometimes be marketed as informational, educational, or cautionary to get around the censors. If I want he will dig it up, but I think I like it better as a mystery.

I guess the Manamanap scene is pretty tame?

No, a soft core 1960s porn about and filmed in Sweden. But aimed at American audiences, because Swedes would actually know that the film was nonsense.

I am linking to the scene - on YouTube, it is very tame. A bevy of young Swedish women scampering through the snow - fully dressed - to a sauna, where they are wearing towels - no nudity takes place.

The song was originally called Viva la Sauna Svedese and was released separately from the movie - and did much better than the movie itself, being marketed as a novelty song. Henson most likely just picked up on the novelty song, which had been re-released as Mahna Mahna.

You can blame Molly: the Elder for my exposure to the movie.(And others, most of which are dust in the wind, as far as my memory goes.)

Sweden: Heaven and Hell combined aspects of the Cuties, the Roughies, the Cautionary Tale, and the semi-educational informational porn of the time - trying to fly under the censors' radar.

There were some weird films at time about nudist colonies and the like, all as an excuse to have naked ladies with something that they could blanket it under as informational - no, it's not about the attractive naked women, it's about the healthy, mature Naturist lifestyle! ::D: (Maine was in some of those - topless bathing at Maine beaches was and is quite legal - though the northern Atlantic Ocean might make you wish that you hadn't.)

Eventually leading to, I'm not joking, a movie about a nudist colony on the moon. (Again, blame Molly for my knowing that.) Except for all the naked people, it would have been rated G.

Similarly, Sally Rand got away with a strip tease at the World's Fair under the excuse that she was demonstrating the new wonder material of the 1930s and '40s - a large clear plastic ball. While naked. Because. <_<

Sounds Tasty.  I have been looking for an excuse to try a ganache as opposed to buttercream (I have been practicing piping) maybe I will give it a try!

For anyone interested here is a great write up on it so far.

Also will include a picture of what others have written.

It sounds fun but I am guessing the email, if I got one, went to an old account I only look at when I am expecting something to go there.  I appreciate you showing the solution and the path everyone took to get there.  It sounded like a fun little scavenger hunt.  I will give the whole thing a read and be on the lookout for the announcement in November!

How right you are. I *think* that I may have just spotted my friends and I in some crowd footage from the European Monsters of Rock in Italy, 1992.

Yeah... Intelligent, talented redhead? Definitely checks all my boxes.

I was rearranging and cleaning out the garage a bit today. While I was outdoors, I kept hearing this rustling sound behind me. I thought it was just a breeze moving some leaves around. After a few minutes I turned around to get something and I found the source of the noise: six deer loosely gathered on the back hill, all within 15 feet of me, the closest about 7 feet away, and all of them staring at me. I slowly backed away into the garage, got a bucket of corn that we keep for them, and slowly walked towards and through them to the trough where we leave the corn. Only a couple scattered away from me, but they all went for the corn trough. I think I counted 7 total deer.

They aren't birds, but I'm left wondering: does this mean I'm becoming a Disney princess? As if 2020 wasn't weird enough...
