Randomness XVII: The Madness of the Quorum

Recommended Posts

So I have a thread pertaining to GW bits & wanting a figure from a set. I've decided to just get the set as it's relatively cheap (for GW) at 25 or around that. GW's own site has it in stock, I figured I'd get it there. I see they have a free shipping threshold at $32 dollars...sigh

Other then the ghost paint that started this whole chain, there really isn't anything I want from GW, that I haven't already placed a order for, ha ha. I really don't want to order paints right now, not with a giant polar vortex dividing me & the east coast right now. I'd rather just try & get the paints in a nearby town vs mail order. Thou after Saturday, I don't know when my players will meet up with a ghostly figure again, so ehh.

Announcing the arrival of Baby Hamster!

I said goodbye to Lucy this afternoon. It was time. She went peacefully.   She was a good girl.

The lovely piece I commissioned from @kristof65's wife arrived safely!            EDIT: This picture doesn't show it, but some of the glass pieces are iridescent.

 How did Denmark wind up with Greenland when it was Norse/Icelanders that tried settling it?

I'm going to guess it has a lot to do with king Harald Bluetooth, though it might be more modern than that even.  Either way trump didn't buy it, so it's still Danish.

It had a lot more to do with the Napoleonic wars. I took MvM's suggestion and scanned the wiki article.

My rule is, if paying for shipping puts the total above the free shipping threshold, buy bases. Can never have too many bases. Granted, that may explain why I have a shoebox full of them, but still... bases.

I agree with @ManvsMini---get some bases.

Buy a box of gryph-hounds. Those are cool. He said, in an entirely unbiased fashion.

Glad I'm not the only one who's done this to poke things just a bit above the minimum free shipping threshold.

....Of course, I've also put in orders with Reaper that literally were ~JUST~ bases.  I suspect whoever picked that just shrugged and went about their day.  Now, compared to those who've had to pick some of my Instacart orders... I bet they've done some weird looks at my shopping lists!

(the guy I want is the candle bearer, but I'm gonna glue the "cage" around his face area as that is how I seen it while looking for info on their green "ghost" paint.)

Problem with that is GW has switched to non-D&D friendly base now, so I'd just be getting things I wouldn't even use. At least night when I order pizza from Pizza Hut, I got something to put me over the delivery threshold. Pizza I ordered was 11.99 (guess what the number was.....<_<). So I just threw in a .99 cent parm cheese mini shaker

Note: I just noticed there are small amount of 25mm bases on there.

Those are nice, I think I used one for something I ran at ReaperCon one year as it was perfect for it.

I think the guy holding his own skull is kinda neat.

I was going to say, I checked their site before posting, and saw small packs of round 25mm bases. Or buy a single large base for a big boss mini. I personally don't mind if a 130mm is slightly bigger than a 5-inch base.

I do agree though, GW switching bases to a random sized base was ridiculous. 32mm? You really needed to make it 2mm bigger than any other competitor, just to ensure buying from you? I also saw a pack of 28.5mm round bases available. Crazy.

What uses those?

When they went all AoSigggy what had been on 20x20 squares bumped up to 25mm rounds; what had been on 25x25mm squares bumped up to the  32s.

Those were on GWorkslop?

1674 – England and the Netherlands sign the Treaty of Westminster, ending the Third Anglo-Dutch War. A provision of the agreement transfers the Dutch colony of New Amsterdam to England, and it is renamed New York

Ah, so that's why olde New York was once New Amsterdam.

But why did Constantinople get the works?
