Crap!

I just realized the dwarves have an Underground Railroad!

They haven't just been "sponsoring" the refugees, they've been SMUGGLING THEM OUT! And not just the drow!

Which means dealing with the dwarf Godfather.

I HATE that guy!

Grump NEVER makes anything simple.

I made some home made chicken noodle soup to use up the carcass of a rotisserie chicken we got a few days ago when we had no power so we could have some hot food.

It came out quite good.

Back to loafing around and doing nothing.

If anyone really wanted to spread contagion, they would just have to cough a lot when those were being made.

Well sure, but considering those would have to go through getting packaged and sold to the suppliers and then packaged and sold to the consumers... I'm no microbiologist, but it sure seems to me like the virus would be done dead before it ever got popped open. Or attatched to a wall.

So my super large box for my RVE order arrived Thursday and slightly less than half it's volume filled with these, all connected in a single strip.  It was longer than my house!  I know because I stretch from wall to wall of the finished basement.

Looks like your weekend just got booked solid!

Full disclaimer, I am not responsible for the funny looks people will give you when they see all the air packets stuck to your walls.

We had a good day of rpging yesterday. It was short on the account of one of the players needed to be somewhere but we were close to 4 hrs of play anyways. The party had a couple of hard combats. The first had a shadow dancer & those are nassssssteee!! The whole chain attack is lethal with a 10 foot range & then it does a base damage of 2D6+3 (I think on the bonus) but then it's a DEX save to avoid a choice of 3 effects. Grapple/restrain at DC 14 or knock down -prone or the big one, an extra 4D10 necrotic damage.

The barbarian player got smacked hardcore with this one. He was raging, & halved the base but then SD wanted him dead, so I choose the damage & smacked him for close to 30 pts. He then shadow jumped near the monk, he could really reach him due to him holding a torch (bright-dim light radius). What I was going to do is knock all the players down to small HPs as they have no healer besides potions. It was about time the other half of the encounter came around the corner, a orog leading 3 orcs & 2 quicklings. Sorc player dropped a fireball on em & eliminated the quicklings but his roll wasn't high enough to take out the orcs who saved & he halved the orog. The orog did get some licks on the monk who was also subjected to the SD's chain attack. In the end, he went down. He thought he was dead-dead but he was mixing Pathfinder & 5e.

All in all, even the swashbuckler rogue was taking damage as he totally set himself up to get smacked by the chain & the orog if he moved away from them. (Class ability gives him, free of Opp attacks but only if he attacks that person, heh, heh, which one?)

2nd encounter they faced was vs a fomorian, a orc claw of Luthic & 2 red fangs of Shargass. All in all a very nasty encounter on the account of the fomorian, "evil eye" ability (6d8 necrotic damage/save for half). He also has a special 1 per day of making the person erupt in deformities that totally screw over the PC physical abilities until they long or short rest. The Luthic orc also cast warding bond on the giant, which gave him a +1 AC bonus & gave him resistance to all damage. Thou, this in the end killed her off as I didn't have a chance to break the connection before she died. The Shargass orc were basically thug-rogues that can cast darkness. One laid into the barbarian in the dark & dropped him down. The party downed the fomorian thou before he needed to start death saves. They did have a NPC priest with them for this & she did help with a bless spell & a few heals. Oddly what saved the barbarian from a quicker knockdown was the darkness spell. While he was alive, he was within 15' of the fomorian, but since the giant couldn't see him due to the darkness, he ignored him. ^_^

Overall a fun combat heavy day of rpging. They'll face off against some more nasties in the 2nd half + hopefully not annoy the ghost of a great dwarven leader. As noted the NPC priest is a dwarf, but she is from anther clan the dead dwarf doesn't care to much for. It'll be interesting how they go about getting her on their side. (Adventure calls for the party to go about talking with the spirits that inhabit the tomb & if they get favor from most of them, the clan leader with show them the way forward. The encounter after this one could be lethal as well. A undead warlock like creature (Deathlock Mastermind & a few more orcs including a Blade of Ilneval (supped up orc) lie in wait for them). Gonna be fun!

I do need to look at the adventure, as the encounter is in a room the party can only reach after the dwarf ghost show it to them. I'm thinking a secret passageway or something connect to a tunnel outside the tomb vault.

I am old enough to remember an old Italian underground comic titled Necron, back before GW laid hold to the title....

It was horrible.

I'd link to an image, but even the covers had nudity. (Italy having different rules than the US.)

Grump's drow in his cops game are WEIRD.

I thinks they are shellshocked.

Refugees from a cray cray regime.

The dwarves opinion of them is WAY OFF from what I expected. The dwarves are the ones SPONSORING the drow refugees.

They used to be friendly nations, until a demon war a generation ago. A Dwarven generation.

The dwarf focus turned outward, building surface alliances.

The drow turned inwards, isolation and paranoia., and their empress is nuts, sending her armies out on slave raids. The goblin, ogre, and orc refugees fled the drow.

The dwarves mobilized and fought back, expanding into drow cave systems, but being clear that they are at war with the queen, not the drow.

And built a home for the drow refugees in the city.

Noting can ever be simple. The dead drow crown agent was going to retire from service, after marrying into one of the noble families of the city.

He was one of the GOOD GUYS! Now I want to find his tongue so we can give him a happy ending.

*Gasp* Just two weeks until I retire.... *Dies*

I expected you to make fun of the living agent-liason's name.... (Agent Herringbone Tweed. Please, call me Harry.)

Never let players that are too clever by half roleplay planning sessions. I'm running Rise of the Runelords for four of my group, when the other two are busy, and tonight they set about planning an attack on the main goblin base. It's a major affair, and their plan, which is so crazy it just might work, cuts out like half of the preparation I already put into it. Now I have to come up with a cunning plan to if not foil, at least disrupt their cunning plan.

That's because your weather broke it's leash and wandered down south. You really should come and take it home, y'know.
