EDIT: Apparently "Jay" is a new employee they hired (he's never there when I've come into the store). I know the guy from his time at Gamestop, he's a likable guy, but still doesn't change how annoyed I am over this.

Weird.  Maybe he's nervous about putting that much load/responsibility on someone he isn't paying and has no control over?  He could also want more control over the running of the groups and he's afraid you wont use the sales/marketing material he wants to use.  Im just guessing but there could be reasons he feels important, but it would have been nice for him to explain it first.

Announcing the arrival of Baby Hamster!

I said goodbye to Lucy this afternoon. It was time. She went peacefully.   She was a good girl.

The lovely piece I commissioned from @kristof65's wife arrived safely!            EDIT: This picture doesn't show it, but some of the glass pieces are iridescent.

I'm sure the cats appreciate your efforts to keep their area clean and sanitary.

They are still going to blame you for the pipe bursting.

That's a funny story, in a black humor sort of way.

Good luck on repairs and glad the damage wasn't worse.

GEM

HA!!!!

Thanks! Definitely feeling the "glad it wasn't worse" part, especially as things keep going and I think "what if... what if..."

@MusicalFeline Yikes! Glad it wasn't worse... burst pipes are not fun.

I mean, they COULD be fun, maybe a water park or something... But they aren't.

Yah it would have been nice vs seeing it explained in a corny video he posted for facebook. (they use the breaking news bit in regards to our county being downgraded). Either way, I may go up later or before dinner & see what is up.

Since the whole roll20 thing is just not working for me (no time to watch videos in regards to learning how to use it for games, I may back out of my games for VCon & just focus on my Saturday game that weekend as I feel that is more important to me right now.

I'll be sure to bring a deck of cards. ^_^

Just in case.

Make sure it's Hoyle's. No joke, they're the best for Deadlands. You'll need a deck to create a character and need one as a player if you're playing a Huckster, Shootist, or maybe a Mad Scientist.

Playing the game requires two decks: One for the players, one for the Marshal. I have a novelty oversized deck I use for my Marshal deck. Some people think that I'm compensating for something. It's not that, it's easier to keep track of which card is mine and can't get mixed in with any of the other decks.

Never go anywhere without one.

Kind of like American Express.

All this talk of Deadlands makes me wish (even more) that I could be there.  We (back when I had a group) tried it a couple times, but I was the only one who was really enthused with it.  A lot of the "problems" with the system were really just minor things learning the ins and outs of dice, chips, and cards (when is it better to re-roll vs spending a chip, etc.).

You're forgetting the big one: Wind loss from Wounds. Each wound causes 1d6 Wind damage. So, you have to roll to hit, roll a d20 for Wound location, and then dice for damage, and THEN roll a d6 per Wound. What I do is have you roll the d20 for location with the attack roll (since you're not going to be using a d20 for that). After you figure out Wounds, the target takes 3.5 Wind per Wound (rounding down). It isn't as dramatic as the original system but it sure moves faster.

When it comes to chips, *always* cash in the reds for Bounty Points. Lest you have to pay the Marshal's Tithe.

The real trick to getting a group into Deadlands is letting them read the background information in The Quick and The Dead (the two not always mutually exclusive in the Deadlands setting). If that doesn't hook them, probably nothing will. I like telling people about the Arcane Backgrounds. Hucksters, Blessed, Mad Scientists, Shamans, and Harrowed, just from the core book. You have Martial Artists, Voodoo shenanigans, Shootists, just to name the major ones. There's more.

the biggest problem we always had with deadlands is making everything work in the plot.  we usually wound up with a Cthulhu-isk BBEG at the end trying to destroy the world because most of the time any lesser "evil" plan left the world in a better place than where we started.

We had one game where the BBEG was a leader who was using evangelizing in the name of god to hypnotize and pacify the town and surrounding area.  the group was supposed to eliminate him and return freedom to the town.  In the mean time there were a lot (and I mean A LOT) of bandit groups and smaller bad guys around, most likely there to give the group the experience they needed to take out the BBEG.  That was the plan.  What actually happened was the party began smuggling the good citizens out of the town and freeing them from the hypnosis and tricking the smaller bandit parties into the BBEG's (I think his name was Jerome) sphere if influence where they would be hypnotized and trapped into working to the good of the town.  By the time they were done, 2 new towns were created, and the BBEG's town had essentially become a local prison ward.  They worked with the stagecoach and rail line to have the trains and coaches carrying valuables to wear earplugs and ride down through the town spur or main street to shake off robbers.

In the end, they actually had to defend the BBEG's town from marshals twice to keep the status quo and prevent all the bandits from escaping.  It was a bit of a weird scenario but not unusual for our deadlands experience

Last night Environment Canada said it would be -7C as a high today.  It's currently -17C with a -26C windchill.  I have a distinct suspicion we won't be reaching the originally mentioned weather today ::P:

Today was... mostly not all that fun...

Planned to take my car today, so I got up a abit later than usual, and even had a leisurely breakfast. Yay!

Got in the car and headed dow towards the main road while sipping tea. Yay!

Saw the bus pass the intersection just before I got there. No matter...

More traffic the other way...  My car stalls... happens sometimes... No matter...

Traffic clears! Time to stop saving petrol! Turns key... Huh?

And again...

And again...

Not even a click from the starter solenoid...   Not fun.

Got it pushed into the parking lot of the local gas station that just so happens to be at the intersection.

Tries the ignition ac couple of time more, just in case...

No case...

By then it's only 25 minutes until the next bus...

Ended up getting to work almost exactly and hour after I planned to arrive.

Normally not an issue as I have flexible working hours, but...

I had promised to visit a location to swap out the old network switch today at a certain clock.

Hasty messages sent everywhere, then grabbing switch, diagnostics tools, screwdrivers, hot-melt glue and a hammer...

That switch is going to fit in that box... one way or another...

Had to stop and refuel the work car... anothr delay... my fault this time since it was I who used it last...

Halfway to the site.... BAM!

Rock to the windshield.

The car is leased, and I effing hate talking to the lease company...

Maybe I can get someone else to do it on monday?

Next onto a site where a WiFi access point wasn't working. 'Not enough power' we thought. Even if it had worked when we had a isco switch there.

Hooked up a 48V PSU to test... Startd up all right... but went straight to fault when we switched on anything using WiFi.

Plugged in the Fluke and tested the cable. 3 out of 4 pairs were 40,2 meters. The last was 37meters.

'Bad termination'...

Not in the wall socket in the corridor...

I have no idea what the cable monkeys did in the rack because it was terminated in a panel that should be possible to pull forward to access the cables.

Nope, not moving.

One user 'why not hook it up to a connection in an office'...

There's no hole in the wall I pointed out...

He came back with a battery drill with a 1" masonry bit...

No, he didn't let me use it... Durn!

And no, it wasn't your usual battery-powered drill, either. It was massive.

No fair that users should have better toys than me...

How do you get an BMW owner to help push start a junky old car?

Ask him if he's as tough as his car hints at...

My car died again when I was about to drive it into the garage, but...

It only weighs a ton, so I managed to push it the last few meters by myself.

I'm so ready for the weekend now...

No worries. Cards (and dice. Can't forget those) are probably the one thing I don't have a shortage of.

And I came out of a Deadlands Kickstarter with two more decks of cards (.. it.. seemed like a good idea at the time?).

Poker chips, now... I don't have any of those. Pretty sure the great big heavy things we got with the Dark Eye Kickstarters won't work... although they are very nice.

Here’s your ironic story of the day.

Older beagle was 2 lbs overweight last vet visit, so we bought weight control dog food for him. He is constantly hungry, so we can “sneak” him a little extra food and he thinks he’s getting extra even thought it is less calories overall.

The younger beagle likes the taste of the new food so has been eating everything at her meal times rather than leaving half like she does the normal food. So she is getting fat on the weight control food!

Just can’t seem to win.

Just a guess, it sounds like you have a corroded main battery cable/terminal that is intermittently disconnecting all electrical power to the vehicle.

GEM

Best of luck with the troubleshooting/repair.

Addendum:  It's an extremely rare occurrence but you might  have a battery with a warped plate.    If that is the case the warped plate can intermittently cause an internal short circuit when the plate makes contact with the adjacent plate.  A load test will often reveal the presence of such a defect.
