Randomness XVII: The Madness of the Quorum

Recommended Posts

Flights, hotel, and car have now all been booked to retrieve the eldest spawn from the humid hell of Tampa in April.

After spring break, they go to 100% online courses, so no reason to stay there. Course, right now, he has 100% online courses, so it honestly probably didn't matter if he was there or here. Probably why he's transferring back to a college here in-state.

That, and he said being warm at Halloween was just weird. (We'll ignore the fact that the entire USF campus appears filled with hermits* who refuse to talk to anybody else)

*What's the feminine form of hermit? Hobbit?

*ducks*

I am reading a supers series Grump likes.

Almost done with it, good, clean, silly fun. Superheroes and supervillains like pro wrestlers, fake fights and merchandising.

The current book I'm on has supervillains on a road trip. The three villains are LOVED by their fans, and aren't fooling anyone.

These books are like popcorn.

I am really, really, REALLY hoping that Disney never does to ENG what they did to Aladdin, and make a live action/CG abomination of it.

What's the name of this series? I might want to pick it up...

Wife just sent me this picture. Apparently not content to cover our furniture and the clothes we're wearing with fur, the most evil of our cats is now sabotaging the washer in an attempt to make our clean clothes come out covered in long, annoyingly clingy hair balls. Apparently he was purring when she dragged him out of  there.

That is both genius and thoroughly evil.

I'm not sure whether to you should congratulate this cat for his ingenuity or give him over to W.O.O.F. to do with him as they see fit.

Really funny either which way!

W.O.O.F. doesn't want him. When not trashing everything we own, his other hobbies include terrorizing dogs.

The Emperor's New Groove is more quotable than The Princess Bride.

did you know that in Soviet Russia Papa Joe (Stalin) banned western music.

Coincidentally, this is also the day said leader died in 1953.

He's right, y'know.

I've been a willing  (ish) participant in some pretty boring meetings that offered free food.

Same.  It's amazing how a surprise (or not so surprise) hour long meeting goes from "ugh, I just want to get out on the road" to "why yes, I'll gladly grab seconds, and make half the staff's eyes comical ly bulge out when I pile just as much food on my plate for round two"

I miss those, because our old branch manager would have a catered breakfast for us every quarter, and there was also a catered lunch for the last (half) day before Xmas.  We also had burgers every inventory day, at least when it was warm.

  • 1943 – First flight of the Gloster Meteor, Britain's first combat jet aircraft and the Allies' only jet fighter to achieve combat operations in WW2.

Seen a couple of these in flight, interesting fact: they make a whistling sound due to the airflow over the gun ports...

I hope everyone is doing good. I found my old space marine army for 40k. I had been going to start a Guard regiment, but I think I play marines for a while while a start up a new guard army. jusyt not \sure if I want to keep the marines the color that they are, or if I should repaint them. I do have to some work on putting them back together, but I really do ot want to have to repaint them as well.
