Randomness XVII: The Madness of the Quorum

Recommended Posts

Spent most of the day with an off and on headache.

I've been busy for a while. Mostly trying to get the house in order while I've had the energy which has lasted about a week now. It's starting to slow down now though. Which is kind of unfortunate seeing as we have a bathroom cabinet shelf thing that is going behind our toilet to finish assembling. We just need to put the top half onto the bottom half but I feel like this is a 3 person job... Also, we need to figure out how to anchor it because I'm not smart sometimes. The window behind our toilet is much taller than I thought so the top of the cabinet goes about halfway up the window...not leaving room to screw it into the wall where I need to. Might have to jury rig something.

I need to get upstairs and paint. I just haven't had the spoons to do so. I've got some things that need finishing before the end of the month and then want to start on Grimtalon soon.

Bit of trivia I just discovered:  Pat Boone, the singer from the 50s and 60s who had a long running TV Variety Show is from Denton, Texas.

He is currently the guest on Tim Conway Jr.s radio show on KFI 640 {I Heart Radio}

His "In a Metal Mood" album is so good.

Findings of newest research into the Antykythera Device:

Even if you aren't into ancient mechanical mysteries a little knowledge of this device might serve as inspiration for one or more McGuffin for adventuring purposes.

Only three arms? I could use at least six arms! Hold three babies and feed them all! Which Hindu goddess is that

I'd be totally fine to have just an extra one. Holding 2 parts perfectly & then tryin to grab glue, while holding the existing parts together, is a royal pain in the butt!!!

While looking for reference pics of the race car I'm building, some reason this picture came up on page:

I think our only celeb, locally is the late Harmon Killebrew of the Minnesota Twins fame. He is from Payette, ID. Small town about 10-15 mins from here, depending on traffic.

On seeing this my brain said "bluebell", as in the flower.

Thanks, I still need to calm down, but I may take you up on that

You're always welcome to do so.

I may not be the wisest person on this planet, but I can listen and if desired I can even give my two cents about it.

Keep in mind there's a timezone difference.

Sometimes just spilling what's bothering you may help.

It's up to you.

I do hope whaever's bothering you, will be solved.

A Saturday stroll through some history for March 13th:

  • 1781 – William Herschel discovered Uranus. (Yes, I know... phrasing.)

  • 1845 – Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto, one of the most popular and most frequently performed violin concertos in history, received its première performance in Leipzig with Ferdinand David as soloist.

  • 1930 – The news of the discovery of Pluto was announced by Lowell Observatory.

  • 1988 – The Seikan Tunnel, the longest undersea tunnel in the world, opened between Aomori and Hakodate, Japan.

Also, for those in areas that observe Daylight Savings Time on March 14th, remember to set your clocks tonight! Spring forward an hour!

Hundreds?

[Looks at cases and cases of minis around apartment]

For many of us, your estimate needs one more zero at the end.

Yeah, technically that might be true for me too. I don't have hard numbers on exactly how many minis are hiding around here. I know I have well over a thousand painted and likely twice that unpainted. Especially after the Bones V and Battletech kickstarters arrive this spring (hoping).

No winter wasteland yet.

I am dissapoint.

Maybe.

Any time I think that the big hit comes later than predicted. I'm happy that we haven't had excessive snow since October but a lot of people are worrying if there'll be enough moisture for crops this year. We've already had several years of drought.
