It's finally getting warm enough this week for the impending bugpocalypse to commence.

My dad is gonna laugh at me for weeks over this.

Going to eat any of the cicadas? My uncle thinks it is sad to eat something that waited patiently for 17 years to emerge from the ground. My brother thinks that they should be honored to be eaten by him after waiting 17 years. Brother has a plan involving catching them in the morning and cooking with plenty of garlic. "They're just land shrimp anyway" according to him.

I am not, mostly because I live in a city and I've learned anything that grows in a city is full of gross-tasting poisons. If one of my out-of-city friends throws a cicada party I will totally be there tho.

I 100% respect your uncle taking part in the cicada's Predator Satiation adaptation. "With plenty of garlic" never goes wrong. Tell him to try it with parmesan as well. Or chili flakes. You only get this chance every 17 years, might as well try different flavors.

Brother spent a year in Shanghai teaching English, and before that he was considering culinary school (and was accepted into the CIA program before declining for linguistics). He's damn well versed in Spicy & Garlic food, and potential uses for cheese. I wouldn't be surprised if he made a tasting platter with multiple styles of preparation. He'd be looking for them in our aunt's back yard. It is in a city, but she's had the property for at least 25 years and hasn't been known to get funky with spraying the yard. Just standard manual weed whacking I think.

He's not that far away from your neck of the woods.

He's vaccinated. You got your stab. He would probably appreciate some beverages :winkthumbs:. Do I need to set you up with a food trading partner? hah!

I had a weird dream last night - we were running a sky tug in Megan's Eberron campaign.

My character was a wizard named Bullwinkle, so I know where my brain dredged him from.... https://www.youtube.com]

Though Horatio Bullwinkle is the antagonist, not the protagonist....

Just got home. Went out for our first meal in over a year. Felt weird but good.

I was looking at the lawn when we got home and I was thinking how it already needs a mow and then I looked over to the next lot that is empty and the grass must be 3 feet tall if not more. Made me feel not so bad but still need to do something about ours though.

Got a lot of painting done today. After yesterday's migraine it was nice to get stuff done. Tomorrow is housework because Tuesday we have a dishwasher repair person coming out and things are a mess.

I've been making dalgona coffee these past days, really easy and tastes pretty good.

Looked it up, it looks tasty but I don't drink milk in my coffee, on the other hand, could one substitute the milk with a scoup of vanilla icecream?

In other news, the Newt that visited has left.

Thanks for stopping by.

Monday's look at what happened on May 17th:

  • 1875 – Aristides won the first Kentucky Derby with the jockey Oliver Lewis (with a time of 2:37.75).

  • 1900 – The children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum, was first published in the United States. The first copy was given to the author's sister.

  • 2007 – Trains from North and South Korea crossed the 38th Parallel in a test-run agreed by both governments. This was the first time that trains have crossed the Demilitarized Zone since 1953.
