I'm not a practicing Catholic anymore but I remember a lot of it and can appreciate folks praying before dinner and enjoying the various feast days. :)

We did not do anything special but I am sure my parents were busy all day yesterday haha!

Question June 1sth.

Second Day of Pentecost.. Is it a special day for you, do you have plans for it?

Nope, I'm like everyone else, had to look it up. I knew of the existence of Pentecost, but couldn't have told you what it was. I saw "Second Day of..." and began to wonder if that was almost like a "12 Days of Christmas" thing, lasting several days in observation.

In an alternate branch of time I might have known what it was, as my ex-fiancée was from Romania where it is also a holiday, but clearly events did not happen that way.

Planning to spend the day taking a dog to the groomers, waiting in the car for him to be done, and then watching some Netflix. Maybe some minis. But first PopTarts!

I grew up very Catholic and I don't think Pentacost was ever celebrated in any way. On the plus side, it's my day off, so I will be cleaning house and making chicken salad and falafels. How's that for plans?

I have plans for June 1st. We do not celebrate Pentecost so my plans are unrelated.

Today, the UNT summer classes start, all online, for both my son and myself.  I have an art fraud and an Eastern Philosophy class that I am looking forward to.

And with my MOD hat, will gently remind that religious discussions belong in Bees.

Also had to Google it, so... No?

I mean, I've seen the word before, but never paid any attention to it. Maybe my mother would've known about this being a thing once. But I've never heard of it ever being a holiday over here (Catholic background).

Like many other's, I had to look it up. I think I had heard the word before, but never knew the significance.

So, today is just Monday, June 1st for me.

I also had to look it up.

Secondary question: Did you know what it means without looking it up?

I've heard of it but don't know what it means. Didn't google it yet. My special plan is I slept in. Not for religious reasons but because the wife wants to got to the farm to finish planting the garden and it takes her awhile to get going in the mornings.

I'm like Grumpy Cave Bear celebrating Christmas and Easter. My grandparents on both sides had bad experiences with a couple churches so my parents and my generation grew up with very little religion. Good morals always seemed more important.

Question June 1sth.

Second Day of Pentecost.. Is it a special day for you, do you have plans for it?

I was raised by Quakers and the Pentecost itself represents a special day for them. The second day of Pentecost though isn't something that I ever remember "celebrating." Modern Quakers are slightly different than the ones I grew up with and so this may have changed over time. I'm very private when it comes to my own religious beliefs and observances, and therefore today is no more special to me than any other day. I do like the idea of gathering with friends for a shared meal and having a nationwide reason to do so. Therefore, I hope you enjoy your Gourmetten (a term I did have to look up) Glitterwolf, and if possible post pictures of the spread. I'm guessing it will be delicious!
