Question June 30th.

What social customs do you wish would just disappear?

( Again beware of beekeeper stuff)

And with this question WOOF will now hand over the Questor Robes, The Staff of Interrogation and the Potions of Truth Serum to @TaleSpinner who has ways to make you talk next month.

Thank you all for participating and rest assured the obtained knowledge is in good paws with WOOF.

I'm gonna say handshaking. Frankly, I like handshaking. It's a nice, formal way of greeting one another, and I kinda miss it (thanks a lot, Corona).

However, I am a person extremely prone to sweaty hands. And boy, it sure is awkward when you're shaking hands with a bunch of people and you can tell they're trying to get away from your moist palms. I don't really want shaking hands to disappear completely, I think it's great, I just wish there was a substitution. Something like fist bumping. Something that doesn't involve my palms touching someone else.

You did great, Glitterwolf! Thanks for doing the questioning!

I don't have anything against handshaking (except during pandemics), but I'd rather get rid of the belief that every handshake needs to be a firm one to show you mean business or to show masculinity/dominance. I've been accused in the past of having a weak grip on handshakes, but I don't feel squeezing the crap out of someone's hand is a polite way to greet a person.

I agree on hand shaking. Like if I know you you'll probably get a hug but if I don't know you I do t want to be expected to touch you. Some of that may be my OCD but being forced to touch strangers, in any capacity, weirds me out.

In the Netherlands we have this habit of giving 3 kisses ( on the cheeck, thank the Lord!) when we greet someone of the opposite sex.

I would not mind if this stopped.

Feels awkward every now and then, and I tend to not do it if I can get away with it.

Wait a minute, aren't things that go WOOF supposed to like giving kisses? Or is it because the custom suddenly becomes creepy when you use your whole tongue and lick their cheek? ::P:

I think most people have covered those I'd like to see disappear

The biggest one being the assumption that because we have instant communication then responses should also be instant...I've been training my work colleagues that I'll get to it when I have a chance the past few years, but it's only in the last few months when everyone has been working from home that they have finally understood that concept...

In a Society that is becoming progressively more antisocial, I think hanging on to the customs we have might be a good idea.

I am inclined to agree.

Welcome to Getting to Know You, .February 2020 Edition.

The rules as they currently stand ( we all know most of you rebellious lot will ignore most of it, but one can try)

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one...
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted between 8:00 hours and 12:00 hours CET. ( Central European Time)
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me...
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
      7. Weekend questions will usually take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.
