I'd recommend to buy 1 wash, just 1. See how it's meant to behave. You'll find it covers your miniature alot better then was currently the case.

If you're still bound to make your own washes, go right ahead! But you'll at least know what you're aiming for ;-)

Wise idea. It's always better to see what you're going for! I'll have to see if my local game shop has 'em.

Also, seal those minis.

Then touch up and seal again.

Show the new pics!

Keep painting and HAVE FUN!

Will do! Thanks, Glitterwolf!

I can see the attraction in trying out everything suggested in the set. A commercial ink wash is different to thinned paint but you should have fun with what you've got.

Also, I expect you have done but always wash Bones minis with dish soap, and consider priming them with slightly thinned white grey or black paint (or a Reaper liner or primer). That should help prevent the paint rubbing off/chipping.

Thanks, Brianuk. I'll be sure to use that dish soap trick that you and Dan S mentioned!

Also, little minor thing here, but I found that lost kobold, so it looks like I'll be trying out these new tricks soon! :poke:

That fixed it! I can see kobolds now! I recently painted these little guys myself so I know how tiny they are!

You have good brush control. Painting those tiny little straps proves that!

You are getting good advice. I will offer a tiny bit of my own. I use blue tack/sticky tack to stick my minis to lids or bottles. It works with plastic or metal and any size base I have had so far except dragons.

Try different things. You tried the washes and saw what that does. You could buy a premade wash (I recommend a sepia tone as it is very good for a wide variety of things). Play with different things to find out what they do and how they act. You will figure out what works best for you.

These forums are tremendous for helping to paint better. I still remember my first Work In Progress that I painted here and I learned so much by asking for advice. I still have that mini and I love her. She's not the best thing I ever painted but I can look at her and see the turning point of where things started clicking into place.

You have all of the fundamentals already now you just need to find the techniques that work for you. Welcome to the forums and I look forward to seeing your future minis!

Glad to hear it's fixed now!

Hey, thanks! That's actually a lot bigger of a compliment than you think, as I struggle with shaky hands regularly, so that's a relief to hear that it's under control when I paint. ^_^

Sticky tack! That's what I wish I had when I painted that one kobold with the warped base (that's one of the two that need more work).

Thanks a million! I look forward to sharing them!
