Tavern & Townsfolk Miniatures "Dunkeldorf: The Prancing Peacock"

Recommended Posts

The price of the patron pledge is within my normal hobby budget, and creating a list of "top6" comes pretty easily,

+ Tables and seating, which are obviously necessary add-ons.  I would not want to chance my WizKid bar furniture be slightly the wrong scale, I really want the whole scene to work.  If I use it in a game rather than a diorama, then throwing in mismatches would be fine.

Patron Wants:  (47$)

Bard

ratcatcher (s)

scribe (s)

noble kid

herbalist (s)

merchant  (s)

peacock

Required Add Ons

Table + benches

but the innkeeper level has about 10 more minis + free scatter stuff?

Required Adds to innkeeper pledge:

Table + Benches & chairs, 1-2 large ale Barrels

total 89$

Writing this all out, ill go with the Patron order.  More minis is of marginal utility.  but I'm adding funds for an ale barrel.

Are these plastic / PVC or resin?

Previous Dunkeldorf KS (which I pledge in) was metal.

From this KS page:

All of the miniatures will be cast in white metal, possibly with the exception of a few sitting miniatures that may be too complex for metal casting, these will instead be in resin. We will make sure to inform you about this before you choose the miniatures for your pledge.

I am going for patron currently. The minis are full of character and I will probably add some in the Pledge Manager. I am waiting for the stretch goal sculpts.

The scribe is a fun fantasy mini, but I will probably not be getting him. The candle on his head is just too much. That hat is going to be ruined! Maybe he is one of Mats Federhut's repeat customers.
Plus I was never a believer in stapling pieces of paper to your clothing.

My current favourite 6 from this kickstarter:
- Guidobaldo the merchant
- Elhardt the Nobleman
- Ulrike the Bard

- Frieda the Herbalist

- Frauke the Chambermaid
- Detlef the Blade

Waiting for sculpts to make a decision on:
- Heinz the noble kid
- Mats Federhut the hat maker
- Maude the bounty huntress.

From previous kickstarter I am interested in order of preference: Linus Witzner  (Manservant), Wilhelm (Noble brat), Herman Geizhals (Burgomeister).

@TheUncannyAK there are still several add-ons coming up, so you'll probably have a bit of choosing to do :D

@dragonwyrm thanks for backing! Glad you like several of the miniatures, despite thinking the scribe is a bit too much out there, which is exactly why we figured that the pledges where you can choose the miniatures would be a good idea :) - If you can live with the parchment, the candle shouldn't be too hard to remove and cover up. I've just looked at the sculpt right now and that's certainly doable. But hopefully there'll be plenty of others that you can choose from.

I took a picture yesterday to show what you're getting for free so far. The table is not included :) - 4 Miniatures of your choice, a peacock and several table accessories.

And then a WIP render of Olivier Redeux the Gambler, one of the stretch goal characters.

I like the concept art. It has a consistent theme and the final sculpts match it closely.

Yes, I like most of the figures. That is why I am nitpicking things like the candle destroying a good hat. Must make budget conscious decisions and nitpicking is the way to go!

@Loth Glad to hear that! We had talked about a male version of a wench, but we thought a peglegged version of a traditional wench would be a lot of fun :)

I've attached a few of the latest pictures from the project. The painted version of our bard, a little scene in the dark streets of Dunkeldorf (With a mutant lurking around in the background), the sculpt of the halfling Thia and concepts for our slightly silly "Guard Chicken" pet.

@Marc Hehe, I can understand that. I think Reaper has spoiled a lot of us in regards to that. They've done a great job with the Bones line and improved them so much compared to the quality of the very first Bones Kickstarter. Price and quality makes it super attractive, but unfortunately it's hard for smaller companies such as ours to get that sort of operation set up as we would need to get them produced in China and get A LOT of miniatures made before it would make sense. Reaper has probably also spent what I expect to be a huge amount of time perfecting their "Bones recipe" and I wouldn't even know where to start even if it did make sense for us to venture into that area/material :D

Resin is of course an option, but we would need to raise the price of the miniatures for that, which we would prefer not to do and the resin casting process is a lot more time consuming than metal production. So in the end we went for the "Old school" choice :)

I'm pleased to hear you like the miniatures though!

For me if gaming miniatures can't be PVC then metal is the next best option.   A resin game mini is a mini with a broken off arm in my experience.

Pixies, Wyrms, Demonicity – Three Mini Role-Playing Games

Three ready-for-adventure mini-game boxed sets for your RPG game night, featuring the Tri-Stat System used in BESM Fourth Edition RPG.

If you're looking for role-playing games that are concise enough to crack open and start playing right away, yet sufficiently robust and evocative to support longer campaign play as well, you've come to the right place.

Welcome to the Kickstarter for the first three Tri-Stat System Mini-Game Boxed Sets – a new line of compact and complete role-playing adventure games that are compatible with Dyskami Publishing's flagship BESM Fourth Edition anime and manga RPG. Tri-Stat System creator Mark MacKinnon has distilled and customised the complete system into distinct streamlined versions for each of the three adventure games – targeting their specific genres and background settings in easy-to-understand boxed sets.

Pixies, Wyrms, and Demonicity – it's time for your next great role-playing adventure!

Pixies, Wyrms, and Demonicity – These boxed set RPGs are games of adventure, exploration, battle, heroism, romance, and imagination. Yet unlike in a traditional board game, the possibilities for exploration and action in these role-playing game are endless.

Each of the three role-playing adventure games contains the following components:

a 32-page full-colour rulebook that gives your group everything you need to play, with sections on character abilities, magical spells/paranormal powers, weapons and equipment, enemy encounters, items and equipment, and guidelines for integrating the Tri-Stat System game with the compatible BESM Fourth Edition RPG
6 brief story scenarios so you can start playing adventures right away
6 pre-generated player character sheet handouts, with game stats and illustration
4 custom-etched dice specific to that boxed set

You can pledge for one, two, or all three of these boxed sets during the Kickstarter.

      ...

I know know nothing about these creators or the system, but I decided to back for Pixies entirely because of that picture of the corgi. 👀
