So I haven't taken any progress pics for Chick. Lots of work since last night - I could get away with highlighting the hair and doing a rough face, and touching up the shoes. I've already added lipstick

Super happy with the sweater texture - palomino gold, buckskin pale and a wash from a brown made with PG and hexed lichen (purple). Shirt LED (autocorrect to "disabled," really?) blue and ghost white, skirt is breonne (autocorrect to "bronze") blue and ultramarine shadow. Hair base is ruddy leather. Intend to go rust brown then lava orange maybe depends what I have handy.

Not ideal, but livable. Looking a little sickly though. Will have to see if eye shadow and some blush help with that? Other suggestions?

Maybe @Pingo

Can talk about a video or thread that refers to traditional skin tone mixing? I think I'm veering too far into yellow, which is why she looks a little undead.

Her skin looks greyish brown, but I think you have the highlights in the right places.  Is it possible to give her a warmer skin tone? Her eyes look good, just need a little neatening up on the bottom.

Edit: if you mix white with the ruddy leather you might get a nice caucasian skin color.

Thanks.

I am hoping not to have to redo all the skin. This was a failed attempt at a brown skin tone, so I'm not sure about the ruddy leather recipe. I might try a glaze of a red brown. I just feel there's some counter-intuitive solution to this that I can't think that I might with formal art training.

Try a thin glaze of the ruddy leather over a small area, like her hand.  See if you like that.

It's definitely changed her from 'zombie like' to 'alive'.

I haven't been painting much Reaper lately, but painted up this beastie for Jimmy The Brush's July community challenge.

"The science of computronics progresses every year! Why, if my projections are accurate, by the far-flung year 2020, these computing machines could have ten times the processing power in a space a third of the size! With advances in magnetic tape and vacuum tubes, every home could have a computer no bigger than a large desk. The slide rule will be obsolete, and logarithm tables a thing of the past! Just imagine--with the power of a global network of thinking machines, the lucky people in the utopia of 2020 will live as gods, having solved all of society's ills."

These are some righteously retro MDF set dressing pieces from Crooked Dice. They require some assembly. I got the Cooling Panel, Quad Databank, Corner Console, and Computer. Tried to paint them to look a bit gungy and used, like they're in a damp, condensation-prone basement and a technician has probably spilled coffee on them once or twice.
Great for underground bases, nuclear launch sites, ground control, power plant operations, etc.

      Click for assembly info:

I painted most of these figures quickly or experiment when I did so. The exception is the reaper figure. I didn't really paint his face with too much detail, you can't see it due to the hat and what I did paint is sufficient (white eyes, basic colour variation on skin).

      Duelists
They look better in person (I swear, the light makes the skin look washed out more than it is, plus the hair has darker shadows.)

Feedback and Critiques are welcome and appreciated.

This is my first mini painting, just finished it tonight. I have a lot to learn, especially the correct way to dry brush. But I followed a Reaper paint kit on the steps for their minis and this is what I came up with.

Once I get the hang of the minis themselves I'd like to learn to make custom bases, this one just looks awful as is.

For some reason I can't get the picture to show the color true either, it's a much more grayish blue than this bright color that is shown.

All in all, I'm pleased with its turn out.

Pulled this guy out of the current round of the Box of Goodwill and painted him up over the course of two evenings.

I apologize for the low quality photos, but I've had such low drive to get pictures taken lately that I just wanted to break the ice and get the ball rolling.
