Welcome to the forum.

For a first paint job your figure looks excellent. Everything is painted as it should be. Your painting will develop as you practice. Learn to enjoy the process.

Use a piece of white paper for a backdrop and your photos will come out better. The camera will be less confused about what to focus on and what colors to capture.

Welcome to the Forum! Vaery good work on the mini. Okay, for the base, a simple way to make your bases look decent that is eay is as follows:

At your FLGS or a general hobby shop, get some Woodland Scenics foam "flocking" They make this stuff for scenery for model railroads in different coarseness and colors. Pick one you like, use cheap craft paint or white glue and coat the flat area around the feet of your mini and the top of the base. Then just stick the base into the foam while it is wet, shake the excess off and let it dry. Simple and effective, put the rest of the flocking in a little tub with a sealable top to store, it.

Welcome to the Forum!

Your first mini looks way better than my first.

Love the warpaint / marking on his face.

You have good brush control, keep painting, watch videos on youtube on the subject, browse this forum and ask questions.

Make a WIP ( Work in Progress) when painting you will get advice and comments on the go if you want.

HAVE FUN!

@Corsair, thank you for the tips! I'll swing by my FLGS next time I get a chance and see what they have. I didn't realize that's what they all were called, thought it was just the name of our local shop haha.

@Glitterwolf thanks for the WIP tip. I took some pictures as I was going to see how it looked in each stage, didn't realize there was a forum section for that. Will check it out next time. It was fun painting, some was a little frustrating, but mostly it was nice just to relax and focus on that for a few hours and pick how I wanted it to look as it went on.

@Iridil my dad use to paint minis, so I bought some for him too. He's excited to do some with me, it's been at least twenty years since he last did so it must have stuck around with him like you said. He mostly did metal space guys.

@MusicalFeline, thank you!

Posting this month, October's projects finished so far (and no sorry I'm not an Orc-tober person).

I've been wanting to do a group/series of hellborn/tiefling figures for fun but seems whenever I went to order something they would slip my mind and I get something else. Ah but reaper cursed me and gave me a free hellborn figure and now I can tell I'm gonna be ruined.

Painting at least one wizard a month is a requirement is it not? When I saw this fig I just luved the Arabian vibe I got off it.

"You bunch of young ums better beware the White Wolf prowling these hills and country side while out seeking lust and gold," sternly told the Barmaid to the adventurers seeking gossip which she did indeed loved to tell, but this group just rubbed her the wrong way, "the She-devil of the woods will eat you alive!"
"Ahhh, quite messy with them Babs," said one of her regular patrons, "You'll have them pissing in thier pants telling your 'Witcher' stories.

as you can tell from above I wanted her to have a Ciri/witcher vibe.....

Posting this month, October's projects finished so far (and no sorry I'm not an Orc-tober person). Normally when I prep mini's I do about six or so of them at a time, this month I found myself preping a baker's dozen...ouch. O well got plenty for next month too...hehe, anyways when sorting for something to paint she caught my eye, I still can't believe how really dainty she is.
