July 5: How many masks do you own?

Don't know.  My wife has made several using fabric from her stash.  My normal mask has daleks on it.

I wish I had a respirator for airbrushing, not that I have an airbrush yet.  (I am planning to buy Reaper's airbrush but I'm not sure respirators will be available by then.)

All of the goblins @malefactus has painted.  They all have personality.

As far as minis I could paint myself, I'm fond of the vintage-looking Bloodbite Goblins (Reaper 07003).

I like the way @malefactus paints and bases his.

He inspired me to paint this one a few years ago.

It's from Metal Magic ( now OOP) and I loved their style.

I also loved the pold Rackham Confrontation ones.

Bar none, the 1:1 scale @buglips*the*goblin. For the good of humanity, he has been permanently gifted to @Guindyloo.

He will forevermore be remembered for his advancements in Goblin mathemagicks which have been the salvation of those sorely afflicted with Figmentia.

@Glitterwolf I am also a fan of Malefactian Goblins. It took awhile to find these two which are favourites of mine:

But hunt for and find them I did. They were both 'rescue' gobbos that might have otherwise ended up in a Grimdark World sort of environment, but they were instead converted to fit into to the delightfully spooky world @malefactus builds for us.

I'm a big fan of the newer Games Workshop ones.

Although I've only painted one so far, so I guess he's my favourite by default:-

Thank you @TGP: I really meant to be here yesterday., but I was on furlough and being away from the computer is the one sure way for me to forget.  I'm back to a regular schedule for the rest of July, AFAIK.

July 7: Have you ever used a real creature for color scheme inspiration, if so what?

I often do!

Especially when painting animals or reptilians/fishmen etc.

For instance the Komodo Dragon was based on the real thing.

didn't quite nail it but I had the picture open while I was painting these four.

If I'm painting a real animal, I will look up pictures to get a good idea of what they look like (unless it's something everyday like a horse or a dog etc.).

The Octopus on this base, is supposed to look like a blue-ringed one:-

And Gretal's little monkey friend is meant to be a Capuchin:-

But I've never applied a real-world colour scheme to something fantastical on purpose.

When I go to paint something that will be based upon a real life animal, I suspect I will pull up a few references for ideas, but I generally tend not to do such, at least actively anyways.

I have found a few things while randomly browsing where I've gone "huh, that would look neat with mini x"

I have a few favorite mini makers. G/W's old plastic Night Goblins are probably my all around favorite. They are WONDERFULLY silly & very easy to do conversions/kit bashes with.

Reapers offers variety; Freebooters are classy; AND Rackham/Confrontation are really strange.

There really are too many just to have a favorite, but I do like my Goblin Faerie Folk & the homegrown Squig that is my avatar.

It looks like @TaleSpinner ‘s weekend has become a long one. Hence the sub question from the substitute questioner, your FLG (Friendly Local Griffin).

There may be another/other weekend(s) in July where Talespinner is having quality time away from computational devices and Griffin questions can occur.

Today’s question is deliberately focused on a subject @malefactus is fond of, as he could use some good cheer.

Feel free to mention any manufacturer, concept art or artists, painted model, yet to be painted models, or style of goblin imagineering that strikes your fancy.

And do check out The Year of the Goblin.

Thanks for the question AND all the "likes"...the emotional boost/support is greatly appreciated.

I do look up critters for proper colors. I don't always do them in realistic colors, but I do check to see what they actually look like.

The last hing I looked up was snails for my Steam Punk Snail.

A couple of boxes of disposable paper dust masks for field season (that keeps getting postponed), a few N95 masks I keep in my painting tools for when I'm spackling or painting in a less than well ventilated area, a half dozen cloth masks friends have sewn for me, a foam hockey mask for when I want to dress up as Jason for Halloween, and a Honeywell air purifying respirator mask with dual cartridges in my gear bag for very specific site visits. I keep an atmosphere supplying mask with supply at work, but my hazwoper training is woefully out of date so hopefully I never have to use it.

All goblins are the best goblins! I don't know why, but I just love every goblin I can get my hands on and the weirder the better (and just to reinforce what others have said, Malefactus' goblins are so far out there that they rank pretty high on my goblin appreciation scale). That being said, here are some of my absolute favorites...

I really like the goblin skirmishers and warriors from the Reaper bones line (bones 3 maybe?) I've painted them 3 times so far. Once as normal, once with guns, and once with instruments. I have plans for painting them three more times. I'm thinking cannibal goblins, cyber goblins, and goblin casualty markers.

I'm also a big fan of Rebel Minis Goblin Henchman

But one of my most favorite goblins was this kickstarter exclusive from Impact.

I used to not bother with looking up reference photos for paint jobs, I would just slap color on any old way because I don't really think I'm skilled enough to make anything realistic. Then last year I wanted to paint a deer to look realistic. I was pretty happy with the results, so now I'll often look up animal photos whenever I'm painting something that could benefit from looking at actual plumage or patterning. Here's the deer in question that made me change my habits:
