Thank you @TGP: I really meant to be here yesterday., but I was on furlough and being away from the computer is the one sure way for me to forget.  I'm back to a regular schedule for the rest of July, AFAIK.

July 7: Have you ever used a real creature for color scheme inspiration, if so what?

All the time. I get a lot of inspiration from real beasties and nature for my minis. All of Ma'al Drakar's heads. Most of my dragons are based on reptiles. All my Darksword Anthropomorphics are based off real animal patterns. Minotaurs, gnolls, tabaxis. . . . Reference subjects are part of my style.

I may have once used a tortiseshell cat as inspiration for a Basti hero for wargods

Don't ask me where there's a photo of her though ;-)

July 8: Have there been any events cancelled due to COVID that have filled you with a sense of relief for not having to participate/endure it?

No. I haven't gone to an event in years/decades. I have the social life of a Trappist monk.

Not unless we count humans as creatures.

COVID canceled an event I wanted to go to, but may not have been allowed to go to due to work, so I avoided having a discussion with my boss that I wasn’t looking forward to.

Beyond that, not really.  I try to avoid opting into anything I don’t really want to do.

Kinda happy to have gallery season more or less canceled this year, since I don't have any new pieces to speak of. I feel bad for the artists, but the little shop our board pres opened last year has been building out his online presence and just sold a piece to DC yesterday. So that's cool.

We've been declining in our concert attendance over the past few years. The prices have gotten really high and the crowds have generally become less pleasant. This year I mostly miss the symphony, we've increased our attendance there to the point where we've debated season tickets for a few years now. But I'm happy to not have to wiggle my way out of going to a venue with terrible parking and deal with drunken churlish crowds to sit in bad seats and listen to 70s bands with one living member left (the fiancee still romanticizes these shows as if they were in their prime).

It's a double edged sword.. everything is cancelled (season tickets to the theater, international trips,  D&D, all of it) and the socially anxious part of me revels in the ability to just keep staying home, even though in the past, when I did get to go, I'd enjoy it once I got there.

Now, since work is the only place I do go, any other outing puts me on the verge of panic. I'm worried that COVID is making me permanently agoraphobic.

I'm sure work would have had several social things that I'm just as happy didn't happen.

Everything else that has been cancelled, the sense was NOT relief...

Sort of. Back in May I was supposed to fly out to LA for about a week and a half to visit with my wife's family and see my nephew graduate college. I really hated having to miss out on that, I've never been to LA and was looking forward to doing some touristy stuff. However, my wife was planning on flying out a week early and I was going to escort my terrible mother in law through multiple layovers on a cross country flight when I flew out to join her. She really is just a horrible, hateful person and I am quite happy I did not have to spend any time with her.

Only one so far is my Owlbear, drawing inspiration from Snowy Owls and Polar Bears.

Yup, a GIS seminar that promised to be supremely boring.

Not going to lie, it's been nice to not have random people ask me if they can crash at my place for the weekend of a con that just happens to be near where I live...  Well, usually they ask hubby, but it's hard to offer up couch surfing even to those we know, because of two reasons: 1) such requires a couch (okay, we have the old bed now as a couch until we get that beanbag lounger I want, but still), and 2) building kind of has restrictions against such things.  I suppose there's also 3) 15-20 minute walks each way do kind of wear you down (especially after a long day on your feet!) and 4) too many people don't know how to NOT TOUCH MY STUFF!

It was also nice to not have three or four different subfactions of the pride community trying to get me to not only walk with them during the pride parade, but also not having to deal with the bickering between said subfactions.

No, not really. There were a number of events I was looking forward to and each cancellation notice just makes me more depressed.
