TGP
I wonder what @TaleSpinner has planned for the weekend. Will monitor closely in case a reserve question is needed...

Lacking opposable thumbs, he'll quickly jump up into the counter, close his eyes and stick his head right into the bowl, covering his entire face in frosting. He'll then try and make for the safety of upstairs(eyes still closed) and try and eat as much of his prize before we haul him out from under the bed. He makes it roughly 80% of the time. I'm not sure which is more impressive: his ability to survive the sugar rush from the frosting, or that he's able to run and find his way with his eyes closed. Clearly he took the Blind Fight feat.

Unfortunately, my FLGS store here has never believed that getting into it was worth the expense, and they're not wrong. When I was in the Big CityTM , I used to go every year when I remembered to.

I have participated before. There was a memorable run through of a starfinder one shot and I try to at least stop by every year. This year things are still locked down so no gaming at the game store. We did go in yesterday for some sleeves and stuff because we are doing an at home magic draft today. The owner was very happy to have someone to talk to.

Heard of it, know what it is, but have never participated. I don't have an FLGS within 60 miles, so it's just not accessible.

This is the first year I won't be participating at all. Spending most of the day studying. I'll be playing D&D tomorrow though. TGP
1 hour ago, Glitterwolf said: I don't even know what it is. Then I will explain. Some RPG companies banded together, chose a Saturday in July, and declared it Free RPG Day. The workings of it go like this: Independent Gaming Stores sign up with the RPG association that controls it, they agree to participate and promote it, they receive promotional materials prior to the event, the participating RPG companies produce free materials prior to the event, this is all combined and shipped to each participating store ahead of the event, on the day the stores put out the free materials and are free to serve refreshments, host related events, or merely hand out the free stuff. As far as I know it is mostly/only a USA thing. The point is to draw in crowds to the FLGS locations, get them to buy various things besides free items, introduce them to products from companies they have never tried before and generally promote RPGs. Hopefully that is a fair summation. If I missed anything important maybe @Crowley or @TheAuldGrump will helpfully chime in with an addendum as needed. I am sure the event has a website somewhere that can be easily found with a web search. 9

I have never been in a FLGS at the same time as RPG Day, or I couldn't make it, or they just didn't participate (nor were aware of it) because they were particularly small. But since I'm already a gamer with a good awareness of other systems, and already owner of too many games, I'm not the target market. haldir
25: Yes, it was over at Phoenix Fire Games in Meridian Idaho. Yes, my local shop participated this year in it so I went there naturally. Being that I'm good friends with the owners, I could get whatever I wanted out of it & did. (See acquisitions thread for answers). Interesting items this year. Glad I was able to get everything I was interested in. Hopefully in the near future, we can maybe try some of the different rpg systems at the store.
Dilvish the Deliverer
I have participated in the past, but I had a DnD game today until about 1430, then had some yard work to deal with. By the time that was done, I decided that I was too tired and sweaty to make the 40min drive to my FLGS. (40 min drive from home, about a 7 min drive from work; I go there more often from work). Also, while the materials are free to the patrons of the store, I'm pretty sure that the stores have to buy in to get the "kit" of materials. Hence why some stores don't think it's worth it.
