Monday, July 27: The dog days are upon us; what's your favorite meal for a hot day?

(Thanks, @TGP for jumping in this weekend.  Things got a bit chaotic here; all good now.)

A hot day means that I don't want to be running the stove or oven indoors, so something grilled or smoked.  Steaks, burgers, sausages or brats.  Grill or nuke up a potato or slice some cucumbers and Bob's yer uncle.

A Greek platter,

Grilled lambchops, Dolmadakia, Souvlaki, Stuffed peppers, Olives, Pita Bread, Garlic Sauce, Salad, Gyros, Potatoes from the oven.

A glass of red wine to go with it.

Combined with the warm weather it will feel like I'm in Greece where we enjoyed several of our best vacations.

Salad (bean, green, pasta...  something cold and easy to throw together with a minimum of heat required to prepare).  Makes a great side to some type of dead animal thrown on the BBQ as well, as long as there's a cold beverage for the person doing the grilling (me!).

I don't really have a "meal" that I want just because it's hot, but ice cream is always appreciated.

I take a tortilla shell, smear it with a generous portion of garlic hummus, a few slices of salami (or some leftover pulled chicken), throw on some chopped veggies/salad, wrap it up and chow down. Wash down with generous portions of cold Coke. Potato chips/crisps/whatever are optional.

To be honest? A box of Kraft Dinner (Kraft Mac and Cheese in the US) does wonders on a hot day.

Not quite as delicious as the good anytime "standby" of a donair, but still mighty tasty and delicious.

Hot Summer days conjure up memories of hot dogs from the grill, my Mom's macaroni salad, & watermelon.

Lately hot days tend to kill the appeal of food for me, although yesterday we did hit Opie's for BBQed ribs & spicy corn...truly the food of the gods.

Saturday, July 25: Have you participated in free RPG Day in past years; are you going to partake today or will you give it a miss?

I wandered into a game store once in the past to check it out and I thought it was pretty neat. But I haven't participated since. My group wrote our own system about 20 years ago and have been using it ever since. So everyday is kind of a free RPG day around here.

Sunday, July 26: World-building, from scratch, for RPGs— Do you like doing that? How many times have you done that? (Number of settings you have worked on…) If you never do that, what is your goto-default pre-made setting?

With the exception of some heavy borrowing for my Shadowrun-ish campaign I think I've created every world I've ever run a game in. Not in any great detail mind you. I just make up enough details for the first game and then come up with all the other little details on the fly. I also try and keep notes on all the new stuff during games so I can be at least a little consistent in future sessions.

Salad from the garden, turkey burgers, some corn in the husk soaked in some water for a couple of hours and then steamed on the grill, some potato or macaroni salad, maybe some watermelon, and pint of a beer. Bonus if there's cobbler for dessert.

If my blood sugar can handle it, ice cream. Though our ice cream shop is a tiny building on a corner, and there's usually a large lineup spilling into the street for the drive-thru.
