I'm not sure which is more impressive: his ability to survive the sugar rush from the frosting, or that he's able to run and find his way with his eyes closed. Clearly he took the Blind Fight feat.

It's a constant battle against his rampant optimism regarding what a cat can safely digest without tummy problems. We always keep a few tubes of veterinary prescribed Kolin paste on standby just in case.

His navigation is purely based on memory, as was proved when he ran face first into a footstool in the living room that had been moved from it's usual place. Loki is nothing if not adaptable, so he just shook his head and started licking the now frosting splattered fabric

Saturday, July 25: Have you participated in free RPG Day in past years; are you going to partake today or will you give it a miss?

Our local FLGS that took part closed last year due to a money grubbing landlord, so not this year I'm afraid.

Sunday, July 26: World-building, from scratch, for RPGs— Do you like doing that? How many times have you done that? (Number of settings you have worked on…) If you never do that, what is your goto-default pre-made setting?

I have one for Pathfinder, but I don't think I'll ever get round to inflicting it on my players.

Monday, July 27: The dog days are upon us; what's your favorite meal for a hot day?

(Thanks, @TGP for jumping in this weekend.  Things got a bit chaotic here; all good now.)

I'll let you know if we ever get any decent weather about here ::P:

Don't base. Not as good looking, but it's a hell of a time saver.

I only ever based my ReaperCon entry last year. Rest of the time, nothing.

Generally? Sand/coffee grounds for texture. Some flock over that, maybe some static grass. Or, a stamped base using my Happy Seppuku stamps.

Depending on the theme I will use either a resin scenic base or I will create one using Rollerpins with a theme and then add flock/sand/water/rocks whatever I think is needed.

I paint mainly for display and want my minis to have a nice base.

I do a variety of homegrown bases to suit the miniature being based. For groups, the basing will match, but each will be somewhat unique.

I am a Basing Fanatic. I put at least as much effort into the bases as the miniatures.

I have some different colours of flock and sand always sitting nearby. on 90% of my minis I just paint on some pva glue and dip in one or more of them. Simple and usually looks better than a bare base.

I have a tendency to go elaborate with my bases, at least with design.  Still working on ensuring they're painted up to the same standard, but still...

I do my basing as the mini is being assembled though, at least most of the time.  I find it easier to help with coming up with a cohesive plan.

1. Develop an amazing concept

2. Try to figure out how to do it

3. Realize I hate basing because it's not painting

4. Give up in frustration

5. Add to my 'finished painted minis without bases' collection

Maybe I'll just start a new trend. I'm a minimalist, I prefer to leave my painted minis pinned to corks. See, I learned a lot in my art journey, like how to make up a line of BS to hide my weaknesses! :D

No, I do a variety of different things ranging from painting the broccoli base or sticking it into a slotta and painting it black, to attempting to mold texture around the broccoli or plain base, to adding flock and pebbles, to using pins and resin bases, to attempting to create a base from putty and other materials.  Since my figures get used for gaming most are either painted a solid color, or have minimal putty and flock to spruce them up.  I'd like to do more resin bases, but finding the right theme in the right size is tricky at best.  I like 1" rounds, and I keep finding 20mm or 30mm  sizes (with round lipped sides which throw off the size even more).

I typically mount miniatures on 1" zinc washers (or larger, for larger minis) topped with a scupy base crafted using a Basius stamp. Usually, miniatures are removed from their integrated bases, or occasionally the base is incorporated into my more standardized bases.

I've only really started basing minis on a regular basis in the last year or so, and even then it's typically minis without an integral base that can keep it upright on the gaming table on its own. So I haven't really developed any defaults just yet. The one sort-of exception to that is that I've pre-mixed some different grasses together with little stones in some jars so I can throw down some interesting flock all at once. I've got a few different jars of this mixed basing medium. One is mostly dead grass, one is full of broken bricks and stones for urban stuff, a few different mixes for summer plant mixes and so on. I also bought one of those Secret Weapon "Bag-o-Crap" gallon bags of rejected resin bases and I'm really starting to like that. Even for minis that would normally stand up on their own.

I forgot to answer fridays question, this is what I see outside the room where I do most of my painting. Very distracting!

It depends on the mini- if its for gaming then I go with a sand/wash base or one done with the Greenstuff World rollers, like these. I tend to make batches when I'm not in a mood for normal painting.

If it's a boss monster, or if I'm just painting for my own amusement, then I'll go wild with the cork and tufts.
