Shrinking paints

I notice both Army Painter and Vallejo are selling sets of paints with bottles about half the size of their normal paints.  (Nolzur's Marvelous Pigments and Whiz kids Preminum Paints)

  I generally like that approach.

It provides an opportunity to get a variety of paint colors at a lower price.  Vallejo Whiz kids  sets consist of 40 paints in a plastic case for about $70. I know that there are many colors I like to have handy although I don't use them a lot so a 8 ml  bottle would  be more than enough. And, if I use some of the colors a lot, I can get a regular size bottle when the small bottle is gone.

The Va!!ejo sets consists of Game Color but the AP sets consists not only of repackaged Warpaints but several unique colors that I believe are only available as part of the set so it really is not practical to replace those colors when the small bottle is gone.

But, alas, as much as I like the packaging idea, the paints are Gsme Color which I don't at all and Warpaintt which I don't like as well as Reaper or Citadel.  Still I am hoping the idea catches on.

i was wondering how they were hitting that price point; smaller bottles explains it.  I still like Reaper better than either AP or Vallejo.  Though I honestly have both brands in my repertoire.  Model Air is an awesome line to be fair.  I'm curious to see if Reaper will do something similar with the branded airbrush coming out.  I'm not sure about the smaller bottles.  I'll give them an eye when I'm next at my FLGS.

Thanks for the information.

I actually like to use brush-on primers followed by washes, and about six colors (brown, black, white metallic, flesh, followed by red, gray, green, blue, and yellow) are my most commonly used colors. Since brush-on primers are sold in 2 oz and higher containers, I save a fair amount of money on each color. Hobby paint is left for detailing, so I guess I'd benefit from a greater variety of colors with small containers. Of course, most of my paints were bought on sale, so I guess there's that as well...!

I've still not moved beyond Reaper (and the occasional Citadel or SW wash), but ngl WizKids been getting me with the advertising on these Vallejo sets. I actually saved this picture of this forthcoming set a couple days ago because I was aiming to ask for thoughts on it around here lol:

I rewatched ReaperLive.. it's at the 57 minute mark.. they will be developing Airbrush paints and will also start to carry Stynylrez primer...

This seems like something that could be put in, I dunno, say their mailing list... ^_^

Glad to hear of such, I do wish though they'd have more places carrying their paints though.
