Getting to know you August 2020

Welcome to Getting to Know You, August 2020 Edition.

 

The rules as they currently stand ( we all know most of you rebellious lot will ignore most of it, but one can try)

 

1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.

1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one... 

2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
3. Questions are going to be posted between 8:00 hours and 12:00 hours CT. ( Central Time U.S.)
4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me... 
5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
7. Weekend questions will usually take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.

1. Pawing through the melt table in search of buried treasure.

2. All of them. This is actually why I'm the most bummed out about it being canceled ( I totally understand why and support the decision, but it still sucks ). All of the games and classes and whatnot are great, but I look forward to actually getting to meet new people as well as hanging out with old friends more than anything else.

1-I wasn't planning on attending. I am not even sure what I would do if I went...I have never been to an event quite like ReaperCon.

2-There are quite a few Forumites who I would LOVE to meet. Since I have never actually met anyone, picking a favorite would be an impossibility.

1. Melt table

2. Everyone. Really, meeting folks in person is most of why I go. There are conversations and chance meetings that just don't happen when things are planned.

1. It's overseas, so I never attend, I would like to but it's too expensive.  I guess I just miss not going there at all.

2. If I could be there, I would like to meet all of you.

I would absolutely love to enter the painting contest, just to see what level I'm currently at. I feel as if I've hit a plateau lately and it would be great to have a competition to make me push myself a bit further.

Everyone! Although I'm not sure you would be able to understand half of what I say, I've been told that I get more Scottish the further away from home I travel

Wandering through the contest entry area and looking at all the painted things that are so much better than my painted things is a close second.

Aug 1 - Having never been, I don't know what I would miss. I do have a lot of scrap pewter, so probably trading that in (I guess that is the melt table everyone is referring to). I've seen bits of the factory tour that others have posted on Youtube in the past, but I would still like to see the whole thing.

 

Aug 2 - Not saying you all aren't wonderful and wouldn't be a joy to meet, but so that we have some different answers to this, I would like to say that I'd like to meet all of the forumites who hail from overseas. Since it's a bigger investment for them to come over here for the con, it'd be a special treat. If I had the money, I'd fly them all in one year... and no, I don't have that kind of money... yet, mwhahahahaha!!!!

Wasn't planning on going this year because plane tickets, hotels in the US, and USD in general are expensive, and finances were more focused on getting a variety of other things sorted out, specifically things that impact me on a day to day basis.

I'm going to come out and say @Glitterwolf because they seem the type that you can surprise with a number of things, and teh answer is stroopwaffles and/or a delicious plate of snacks. Aka, they're always prepared with food, and good times.  (I blame the fact they have multiple daughters, they're unpredictable creatures!) 

 

I would have said @Chaoswolf but I'm rather allergic to rum, so it's hard to drink along with such

1 it's something I want to do eventually, but even before covid, it wasn't happening this year. I wanted to try the sophie says painting.

It's a toss up between the Awards Ceremony and the Auction. It's really great to see @TaleSpinner's kid win something.

1. Never been to a Reapercon before (heck, I just got into the hobby this May), so I don't exactly know what I'm missing.

2. Everybody, but @Glitterwolf, @malefactus and @Corsair in particular.

For me it's tough to narrow it down to a single thing.  The whole 5 day trip is a yearly catharsis for DH and I, the drive, the miles of scenery, time together, the peculiar smell of plastic, dust and hot metal at the factory, the energy of all the people painting and taking classes together.  The euphoria lasts for weeks afterward.  So I would have to say the emotional rush from taking the trip and just being there is what I will miss most.

1. I'm really going to miss the general hanging out in the great room, the late night D&D, and @Ludo's hobby shenanigans. Oh, and collecting a silly amount of ribbons!
