Quiz for 17 August 2020: What GOOD thing happened to you this last week?

I need to think about that one for a while. It doesn't feel like a terrible week, so there must be something...

I think last week just kind of was. Just enough good to keep the brain weasels at bay for now. I will be glad when this large project is done and I will have free time again.

I found my box of nice resin minis. That is a good thing.

Lately hasn't been great but not terrible. Best thing was finding an old paintball gun I wanted for $60 and when discussing things with the seller ended up with another 4 working guns and 2 needing parts for another $60. The extras are of a type that I'm familiar with and have parts for except for a couple relatively cheap pieces. $160 (after shipping) for 7 was a deal I couldn't turn down. Hoping to get a bunch of renters this fall. I went from 10 pump guns and a handful of semi autos to nearly 30 guns over the last 2 weeks for the cost of 1 medium/high level marker. That should give me enough spares to run the amount of players I usually have.

My mother had her last twice-yearly post-chemo check-up that she has been doing for the past five years. Only has to be seen once a year now, which I believe classifies her as being out of the remission stage. Validates certain sacrifices that were made five years ago. The trick now is to ensure she continues going in for that yearly check-up.

Quizzle for 13 August 2020: What is your favorite mini you painted this year?

Gotta go with the Beholder I did around the beginning of the year. That guy was fun. :)

I got to slab out a small oak tree this past Saturday.  It yielded about 70 board foot of material with a good amount of nice straight grain and minimal defects.  Was even paid to remove the unusable portion of the main branches, so it was a win win for me.

- My wife got her glass delivery, and none of the expensive glass was broken.

- the large piece of glass we had to paint and fire for her commission survived the kiln firing intact.
- my son's best friend from his old school drove out and spent 5 days with him/us, and they had a good time.
- Got my son's senior class schedule, and found out he will graduate from HS early in March (If he doesn't fail any classes).  This is the same kid for whom my wife was told "is a juvenile delinquent who would probably end up dropping out if he's not expelled first" by the SRO at his old school/district.

I took this photo

Nothing special, it's just a common Grey Heron, but I took the photo standing in a nature reserve that was closed for 6 months due to lockdown. This was our first visit since it reopened and I was so happy just to be there again. The fact that I caught his little crest twirling in the wind was an added bonus.
