CaptainPete
Summary: Perilous Tales is a solo or co-op minis game based on movies, serials, and stories/books from the pulp era. It's currently in beta and you can get the rules for free. It's made by the guy from Gaslands. Has anyone else tried it? What are your thoughts? I recently played a full game and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I love the idea but it seemed way tougher than I thought it would be.

Corsair
Also, I do like the system for random game generation.

That is one of the best parts about it, I think. It helps to keep it fresh. Have you tried the online generator?
Corsair
Not yet, have you? Did you like it?
CaptainPete
Not yet. Since it's really hard to get higher than a C rating unless you build towards it, I'm wary. I'm going to play a few more games before I try it out.
CaptainPete
If anyone is interested, I have a battle report of my first game up. Let me know what you think.
Corsair
Nice battle report and pics! A couple of observations/questions: First, healing while engaged, if the caster/healer isn't engaged, why not? Use the skill. Second terrain, Maybe use Battletech rules, roll to see how many pieces placed, then players alternate at placing them. Third, distance, Sounds like the board needs to be a bit bigger [30x30 maybe] or ranges on effects reduced.
CaptainPete
Since I'm playing solo, I can't have someone else place terrain... But, I'm thinking of emailing the creator and asking the distance of revealing Tokens be reduced to 4", which I'm going to try in my next game.
Rob Dean
I picked it up a while back, but would need to figure out whether it's been updated since. It is in playtest/comment, as I recall?
CaptainPete
Correct. It was last updated June 23rd, I believe. Planet Smasher should email you when it gets an update. Edited August 23, 2020 by CaptainPete
