I’d say it’s 100% clear that GamerPrincess is a salesperson for the company, if not the guy that owns the company. Take a look at every post “she” has ever made on these forums - they are only to promote and hype this company’s KS. And the over the top way he or she hypes them, all the while claiming not to be affiliate with the company, or “know the company from Adam” while clearly being closely connected with them feels like listening to a particularly bad late-nite infomercial.

Attempting (and poorly at that) to portray yourself as just a fan, when it’s painfully obvious that you are connected with the company is just lame.

The blatantly sneaky and deceptive nature of these obvious company-backed sales posts has frankly made me extremely negative toward the company. I also wonder if it breaks any of the forum guidelines ...

If it doesn't break the guidelines, then the guidelines would need rewriting.

Anyone affiliated with a company 'in the hobby' really should declare it in their tagline.

The irony of it is that forumites here are perfectly happy to interact with company reps who identify themselves as such. There’s no good reason to pretend to be unaffiliated (and as others have noted it tends to be counterproductive, giving a negative impression of the company). The folks here are not dumb and don’t like being treated as if they are.

Another irony is that the company’s product is actually quite good, as you’d expect given the sculptors they use. I have a bunch of them myself. The minis can speak for themselves if the marketing could just get out of its own way. I’m sure they lose sales by coming off as some combination of too aggressive and borderline desperate in tone, and those lost sales are probably with just to sort of people they need to build word of mouth interest in their projects.

I will probably stay in this project, since I don’t have that many dwarves yet, but I have dropped out in the past and wish I didn’t have to decide whether the tone of communications is a red flag or just misplaced enthusiasm every time.

Good Evening everyone

I am the owner of Tomb Guardians and I was emailed by a few supporter who watches and blogs on the Reaper site.  They told me about what is going on here and I wanted to reach out and post a message.

First let me thank everyone that has supported us in the past, currently and hopefully in the future.  Next, I want to apologize for upsetting a lot of you due to our marketing attempts.  I was not aware of this until a little while ago.  Yes we are aggressive because as the owner I’m extremely excited and proud of our products.  I consider them some of the best miniatures on the market and we are very privileged to have the sculptures we do work for us.  I will have our email campaign back down and will go over that with our marketing manager tomorrow.  The last thing I want to do as an owner is piss off our clients.

Lastly, we are being accused of having an employee posting in this KS page.  This is not correct Or accurate because no one in my company will push our products on a competitors site.  Gamerprincess is not our employee or any attachment to our company.  I understand she is promoting our KS but she is not my employee.  If anyone wants to discuss this or any other topics please feel free to call me at 614-656-7025 or email me at [email protected]  I have no issue discussing this matter or anything else.  I love my company and hobby!

Tomb Guardians has a good relationship with Reaper Miniatures and I do not wish to end this relationship and only build it stronger in the future.  Again I apologize for the inconvience and thank everyone that has supported us in the past, current and hopefully future.    Please stay safe and pray you and your families remain healthy.

Classic Jason Wiebe style. I like those. If anything, I do have a need for undead demi-humans.

^ Yes. Kind of a letdown, hey? I hope the next stretch goal is at $20,000 for the nice round number of it but also so we can quickly move on from these salamanders that all have way too similar of a sculpt.

On another note, I know there were a lot of people complaining about Tomb Guardians' excessive advertising earlier in this thread, but I think the unfortunate truth is that advertising works. This seems to be their most successful KS to date, by some margin.

I have backed, but am also a little disappointed by the 3rd Fire Salamander in a row. That being said, I think it is a decent bargain even without the SGs, so they are just a bonus for me. On the other hand, anyone still on the fence after 2 FS are unlikely to buy in based on a 3rd. I think the issue is I have only really seen them advertising through email- not anywhere else. I only clicked on the KS itself because of the sculptors they listed in the first paragraph- my Reaper purchases by that group have always kept me happy.

I am honestly surprised they didn't try and buy a mention at reapercon or similar- with such a large audience of miniature enthusiasts who already like the sculptors is would make sense to me. Given that the store's man models don't compete on price with Reaper, I don't think either company would need to worry about loosing sales to the other- people will go to each for their respective offerings.

Oh well- hopefully it continues to tick along through another few SGs before the close.

      https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1662635043/to-the-mummys-tomb-a-halfling-expedition/description

      Story
After the estate of one Fomo Barrowblight (who many moons ago, and with heavily laden bags, had said he was just off for a morning walk, never to return) was sold at auction, there came to light a strange scroll that appeared to be a map of the final resting place of a lost tribe of halflings.  These cousins lived down in the scorching Southlands, amidst endless dunes that had buried whole cities and civilisations.
The newly elected (and so still very enthusiastic) Halfling Town Council had organised an expedition to make contact with their fellow halflings, with the aim of swapping some stories and recipes, and who knows, perhaps even coming back with some interesting new cakes.
And, after many great perils and travails, the expedition found itself in a mysterious location known as 'The Valley of the Things'.  Here, recipes in strange hieroglyphs were marked on tomb walls,  guarded jealously by High Priests and long mummified pastry chefs.
The expedition takes time to assuage the fears of the High Priests that they are here to steal the sacred recipes and make formal diplomatic relations.  But Fomo Barrowblight and another mysterious figure seem intent on stealing the recipe to the sacred pie and have already gleaned some of the ingredients...
      To the Mummy's Tomb!
Introducing a series of  Eight Fantasy Miniatures in 28mm scale from a halfling expedition to the burial grounds of their cousins, in the desert southlands.
        Halfling Town Council Five
The latest elected Halfling Town Council, has been responsible for launching the expedition to the distant Southlands, as always, it is made up of eight different townsfolk from all walks of life.

I've already pledged for the whole set, why haven't you?

      Story
Echoes of Camelot: Arthurian Legends is a project that will expand our 75mm resin miniature range with new and exciting models based on the Matter of Britan, particularly around the figure of King Arthur and his Knights. We have many cool surprises prepared should you help us bring this dream to life.
These miniatures have been sculpted and painted here at the Big Child Creatives studio with the collaboration of some of the most talented miniature artists out there. And what is more, they will be manufactured by our own talented team of resin casting experts. This allows us to monitor the process closely to ensure the best quality in the market and a timely delivery.
We have learned a lot from our previous campaigns, and we want to put all this experience to good use, repeating everything we did right, improving upon it, and correcting our past mistakes. We invite you to join us in this journey of discovery throughout the Matter of Britain and its amazing cast of unique characters.
This campaign is a journey of discovery, full of surprises such as custom bits to make your miniatures even more striking than they already are. Some of these kits will be Kickstarter exclusive, so those of you who choose to support us will be able to proudly show it through unique miniatures, even more full of life and character than our regular releases.

Bloody Peasants! by Midlam Miniatures — Kickstarter

      Story
"Oh no!  It's an armed agrarian uprising!"
Toiling in the fields for their feudal overlords, the peasants are equally quick to turn their tools to defending their lands from monstrous invaders or, when pressed to the limit, revolting and overturning cruel and greedy landowners.
      Bloody Peasants!
A selection of human and halfling farmers in 28mm scale miniatures for all of your fantasy games.
You can choose from humans, halflings or both!
      The Humans
A familiar sight in the villages surrounding Midlam.
      The Halflings
A smaller folk, doing the same jobs as the longshanks.

      It's a Midlam project, so you know what that means;
Maybe a stretch goal, very possibly an early fulfillment, and absolutely no nonsense.
