I prefer during the day; maybe 4-6 hours a week? In a dry spell now, can't seem to get motivated so painting's been minimal.

I spend as much time on The Craft as energy & enthusiasm allow. Most of the time is after sunrise and before 6 PM, occasionally later, most every day.

Currently not very much at all. I kind of want to, but I know I'm going to need to pack it all up soon to move, and that's putting a damper on my enthusiasm.

I work during the day, so hobby time is in the evenings or on weekends.

Not as much as I would like to...  I get a few hours in the evening 2-4 nights a week.  Depends on kids' schedules, gaming (Friday and Sunday nights), so hobbying (at least the non-playing portion) has to fit in around other things.  3d printing has added early morning checks of prints and sometimes a little post-print processing, but that's pretty rare.

On average, over the past year, it's been below an hour a week. Only recently (with ReaperCon and the Chaos Toad Sorcerer contest among things) has my painting picked up to an average of maybe 10 hours per week.

It's a mix between day and night. I prefer daytime for the natural lighting as my living room has poor indoor illumination. And I like painting in the evening, because the day is done and no other errands or chores will be on my mind.

P.S. I haven't done any TTRPGs in over a year.

Of late, practically no time on minis.  I'm in a slump as far as painting goes.

TTRPG is significantly higher.

Wed: 4 hour in person Starfinder game after work (5pm-9pm)

Sat: 4-5 hour 0930-13/1400) 5E game with my High School group

Sunday: 2 hour 1930-2130 Rules Cyclopedia game run by @Crowley with occasional extra games on Thursdays

And I'm in an office with several other gamers so we talk DnD on a daily basis, discussing rules or adventure ideas during down time.  So 10-15 hours a week TTRPG.

The fixed part is at night 4 hrs a week when our group gets together.  The mini part varies and is mostly done during the day.

I don't get an average amount of time during the week to hobby. If I set up to paint, I usually end up getting called for by the parents to help do something around the house (it's a big house to take care of, with three dogs that need walking, and with being unemployed, I really have no excuse to not help). So painting usually happens at night, if it happens. I can usually get more cleanup/assembly done during the day, as long as it's before 4pm (the sunlight in the room I use for assembly loses natural light around then). I prefer natural light for cleaning mold lines, helps me see them better.

I maybe get about 5 hours a week for hobby time. Sometimes more, but it's never consistent.

I *try* to spend at least 3-4 hours hobbying at night during the week (added up across all 5 week days), but often fall short. I usually get in another 2-3 daylight hours on the weekends.

In my ideal world, I would spend at least 8 hours a week, but that is mostly a fantasy.

(I do not expect to do anything special to celebrate the equinox, but I usually am at least aware of it.)

It varies a lot. This year I've been struggling to find my hobby mojo. Summer is usually a slow time because of lack of energy after work but this summer all my spare time was taken up by video games and the internet. Have managed a couple hours of painting the last week. Ideally  I get an hour or so a night. Generally I paint later in the evenings but when I'm really into something I'll sit down every chance I get.

Hobbying is done at night simply because life is done at night ::P:

Time spent varies. Sometimes it's lots, sometimes it's none. Up to 18 hours a week, methinks, especially when I have a thing I want Done.

Depends on the season. I prefer to paint by daylight, but that doesn't always happen.

Right now, a couple hours a week, maybe. I've downshifted across the board considerably while I'm rehabbing my shoulder.

I am usually around 6-10 hours/wk for art, probably the same or close to it for music (playing bass using Rocksmith as a backing band). I've learned I need to develop an exercise routine to support those hobbies!

I get zero-8 hours a day. Lately it's been ~4-8 hours over the weekend, with half to an hour on days during the week.  I try to do at least One Thing every day, even if it is only zapping out a shot of dullcote or primer in the garage on my way to get dinner out of the freezer.  If we're going to count watching paint videos or making maps in preparation for the weekend game,  then I can add several more hours during the week.  My rpg group runs ~2x a month for ~4 hours.

10 to 15 hours a week on average.  In summer it is more like 4-8 hours and winter is more like 12 to 20 hours.  During a Bones KS ramp up it can approach 20 to 30 hours.

      Goal

The purpose of this thread is to gather in one place all the visual answers to the oft recurring question, “How big is Reaper miniature __ __ __ __ __ ?”

That question comes up about once a week; but always about different models. This thread is meant to serve as a place for those foolish kind souls who decide to answer in detail with a photograph to post their work.

      Guidelines for such photographs

“...Posed in front of an inch or centimeter grid, and / or with a ruler laid out in front of, above, or behind them, and / or next to other Miniatures for comparison...” Comparison pics are the most useful because the numerical height of a model doesn't always tell you how bulky it is, or how exaggerated the features might be. Common objects like paint dropper bottles, figure bases, and specific Miniatures like Sir Forscale (76543) can acquaint the viewer with size of a new Mini, especially while standing on a grid. The best comparison shots are like police line-ups: several miniatures side-by-side in front of an easily-read scale.

@Pingo @redambrosia and @lowlylowlycook contributed most of the wording in the preceding paragraph (which I edited a bit).

Happy New Year and welcome to Getting to Know You, January 2021 Edition!

The rules as they currently stand (in addition to all regular forum rules):

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one...
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted sometime before 10:30am Eastern US Daylight time.
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me...
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.

Thank you all for playing along as we get to know the real you... tell me, Malcolm Reynolds, are you familiar with the works of Shan Yu?

The first question shall be posted after a brief pause to prevent the merging of posts.
