yes. More than painting them, actually.

No. Most of what I paint is GW LoTR and they're mostly one piece, unlike their other offerings. I did make my own Osgiliath vets with some kitbashed weapons and a bit of sculpted pouches and sashes.

I'm a purist. I get my kitbashing thrills from making terrain and scenery. I don't feel bad when I screw up bits of recycling and rocks from the yard.

Excluding the Bones Conversion class during RCon, generally I don't need to.

If I make more dioramas, or a particular contest, or a PC really wants a weapon swap, I may do the changes.

Picture wise, I have two weapon swapped Sir Forscales from several years ago.

And my facepalming Undying Lord of Death.

I have enjoyed it, but I haven't done much of it.  I know this may come as a surprise to most of you, but I'm not the quickest at getting things painted.  If we add in modifications it generally takes longer still.

So anything I want painted in a reasonable amount of time generally stays "as is".
I still have a partially converted minotaur here somewhere from when we were discussing cows with guns.....pretty sure a new edition of D&D has come out since then.....should get back to that....soontm

I like kitbashing multipart minis and doing minor conversions. I don't modify metal minis often because it can be a pain but Bones and HIPS minis get chopped regularly. I'm not a great sculptor so I tend to keep it simple. I actually enjoy assembling things a lot except when trying to glue 2 hands to a weapon and the shoulders at the same time.

No. If I didn't like the model as it was I wouldn't have brought it.

Oh absolutely. It's kind of the thing that really got me into building and painting minis around 2000. A friend was building space marines and I started asking about weird combinations that fit together. Eventually it turned into building one one that was shooting two pistols while leaping.

Anyway here's a few conversions that were on my desk this morning. My alchemist for pathfinder, an angry robot kobold, better looking necron thing, warlock, and a big servitor652226135_PXL_20200925_1451027052.thumb.jpg.9706d2a6be180270cef65db9529ede0f.jpg

For the most part, yes. Minor changes on a few minis is nice, but it gets to be a pain when you have to do it to a large unit. My most tedious (yet enjoyable) experience was with some Mantic zombies. I enjoyed repositioning the arms for a better variety, but it was also a pain having to alter them so all 30 of them stood upright and could rank up without the arms hitting another mini. I'd do it all over again though.

One day I will buy a scalpel so I can do more extensive putty work and have an easier time cutting it away.

I have been converting minis for years. Definitely enjoy making exactly what I want.

I haven't really done much beyond arm/head/weapon swaps, and not very many of those. I do have a few minis I bought for the express purpose of converting, but I haven't yet gotten around to them. I'm currently trying to ignore the plans forming in the back of my mind for a large mecha-pumpkin, because I already have too many things half finished as it is...

I have a feeling that in the coming years, I'll probably start heading further down the scratchbuild/converting rabbithole.

Do Buglips clones count as models?

I don't think so . . .

But I will defer to  @Guindyloo on this.

Welcome to Getting to Know You, NOVEMBER 2020 Edition.

The rules as they currently stand ( we all know most of you rebellious lot will ignore most of it, but one can try)

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one...
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted between 8:00 hours and 12:00 hours CET. ( Central European Time)
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me...
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
      7. Weekend questions will usually take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.
