GETTING TO KNOW YOU.... SEPTEMBER 2020 …GTKY

Inquiry, the 28th of September: Inktober is only three days away... Do you have any idea what it is? Did you try it last year / are you thinking of trying it this year?

I'm not a fan of cease and desist orders for my artwork.

For the general question, I don't do 'challenge' stuff, I have a slow process I'm happy with and pumping out a ton of junk 'just cuz' doesn't make any sense to me. Not to take away from those who enjoy it, I just don't draw in that fashion.

It's where you keep a tally of how many pigtails you dip into inkwells, right?

I've done this sort of thing in the past, and sometimes it's enjoyable, sometimes not. I'm pretty slow at art in general, so the "get it done in a day" model doesn't really work well for me for the most part.

I will also answer this one pretty much the same way. I like drawing, but 1,I am not much of an artist, C getting what I want on paper is.... Hard sometimes, as I can see what I want, but can not seem to make what I want to happen... Like translation han to stupidy.... It does not work well and Pears, I do have something I am currently drawing that I could possibly share for the Inkober.

I've heard of it, and seen videos done on from a few people before on Youtube so I have an inkling (ba dump bump!) of what it is. Though I wonder if tattoo artists/enthusiasts view it differently. I do not and will not participate, the world is a better place without me using paper and killing trees to showcase my stick-figure drawings.

They really do things differently in Canada, don't they... ::P:

That seems to indicate a marriage just took place! If so, congrats!

Congrats.

Sorry, but I just can't resist an opportunity to deliver a Princess Bride reference:

I vaguely remembered hearing something about it last year, but did not remember what it was; my first thought was something to do with tattoos. After googling it, I can now (knowledgeably) answer the other questions.

No, I did not. I remember thinking about using the prompts for painting miniatures, but that never happened, either.

No, I am not, I'm not a very good 2-d artist.

Fake, recorded crowd noise during ***NFL games: Hate it? Dig it? Creepsational? Don’t care?

It is slightly odd, but it really doesn't bother me.  I've caught a few sports radio broadcasts and it seems less out of place when you can't see the empty stands.

Hate it. I feel we're missing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as fans, to hear more of the on-field noise.

I heard a few f-bombs and other assorted banter get picked up in the background this weekend.

I know what it is but I will not be participating.  Maybe I'll throw some ink on a mini.

Inquiry, the 29th of September: Did you know that today is National Coffee Day and did you know that next month’s Quisitioner will be none other than @Crowley ?? Who here thinks these are coincidences?

No to both.

I don't believe in coincidences, I'm pretty sure there's something sinister going here...

I'm certain this is all a devious plan!

I was in blissful ignorance of both. How does Crowley tie into coffee? Is he Juan Valdez' alter ego?

      Goal

The purpose of this thread is to gather in one place all the visual answers to the oft recurring question, “How big is Reaper miniature __ __ __ __ __ ?”

That question comes up about once a week; but always about different models. This thread is meant to serve as a place for those foolish kind souls who decide to answer in detail with a photograph to post their work.

      Guidelines for such photographs

“...Posed in front of an inch or centimeter grid, and / or with a ruler laid out in front of, above, or behind them, and / or next to other Miniatures for comparison...” Comparison pics are the most useful because the numerical height of a model doesn't always tell you how bulky it is, or how exaggerated the features might be. Common objects like paint dropper bottles, figure bases, and specific Miniatures like Sir Forscale (76543) can acquaint the viewer with size of a new Mini, especially while standing on a grid. The best comparison shots are like police line-ups: several miniatures side-by-side in front of an easily-read scale.

@Pingo @redambrosia and @lowlylowlycook contributed most of the wording in the preceding paragraph (which I edited a bit).

Happy New Year and welcome to Getting to Know You, January 2021 Edition!

The rules as they currently stand (in addition to all regular forum rules):

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one...
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted sometime before 10:30am Eastern US Daylight time.
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me...
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.

Thank you all for playing along as we get to know the real you... tell me, Malcolm Reynolds, are you familiar with the works of Shan Yu?

The first question shall be posted after a brief pause to prevent the merging of posts.
