Highlander
Where can one go to for spare parts for the new Reaper Vex airbrush? In particular, needles. It is always helpful to have at least one as a spare.
TGP
So it comes with 2 needles . . . ? Does that mean you'd want a spare of each size? Two spare needles. I assume that Badger would be where one would go for spare parts.
haldir
Pretty sure later this month Reaper will have a full line up of Vex related stuff at the end of the month. Rcon was just a soft release for the airbush itself. 1 minute ago, TGP said: So it comes with 2 needles . . . ? Does that mean you'd want a spare of each size? Two spare needles. The vex can operate either of two needle sizes. Changing from one to the other was just a quick swap. At least that is what they demonstrated. Not sure what is meant by "aircap"? The needles are badger needles, that part number is made by Badger. Are you asking if the needle sizes are the same as the needles in other Badger airbrushes? (edit: But see @Ratmaster2000 below) Edited September 13, 2020 by TGP I think RM is better informed.
Ratmaster2000
Per Ron during Reapercon, they are taking care of all aspects of the airbrush (customer service, warranty repair, etc.) and they will be supplying the replacement needles (from what I understand, the needles are exclusive and not the same as other badger needles).
Highlander
In short, we don't know. I was a logistician in a previous life. Spare parts were part of the game. You never need them until you need them. Then you really need them. My plan is to have a spare of each needle in hand. Just in case. And needle tips, for whatever reason and no matter how careful, get micro-bends. You can use sandpaper to make them work, but they don't work as well as an unbent, unfixed one.
vutpakdi
I definitely agree about the spares, especially with airbrushes. Odds of damage when it comes to needles and nozzles is just high enough that I like having a spare for both. Ron
Highlander
Weren't the airbrushes supposed to be out today? Or did I get that wrong? I'm hoping spare parts will also be available. If not, I'd ask from where can we get them.
Highlander
OK. Let me try this. If the Vex is produced by Badger and Reaper is not going to support it by making spare parts available, is there a Badger part that will substitute? Specifically, needles? I'm not going to use my Vex without having a spare. Past experience.
Super Administrators Reaper_Jon Posted October 6, 2020 Super Administrators Share Posted October 6, 2020 I am sending an email right now to Ed about the spare parts and what the plan is! 3

Super Administrators Reaper_Jon Posted October 21, 2020 Super Administrators Share Posted October 21, 2020 If you need any replacement parts at this moment, just Email [email protected] and we can get you those replacements. We have a stock of extra parts for purchase being discussed and made up. 1
Highlander
Actually, no. I just got a reply from Reaper Help. I was told that Reaper has extra parts targeted for contingencies such as parts damaged in shipping. And that, sometime, there will be sufficient stock to sell spares. So -- if you damage a needle, you're SOL. I just asked for the projected date that sufficient needles would be available to be placed on sale. I await an answer. I spent my working years planning for the support of new systems, including provisioning for spare parts -- both quantities and timing and feedback data to refine parts acquisition. Reaper seems to have missed the boat on this one.
WhiteWulfe
That's sad to hear. A lack of spare parts being readily available (doubly so things like needles which can be subject to whoops moments) makes it something I won't consider until such is resolved... Doubly so since it's $257 CAD give or take fluctuating currency, which puts it right jn line with pricing of several other high end brands who do have readily available parts here in Canada...
