I've been on a recent kick painting these older miniatures, even old by Partha standards (pre-eighties).  I think I'm going to keep painting them, putting them into my normal mix of newer, old Partha figures.  In any case, hope you like them!

nice elf, and he looks very Thalassian indeed (they're snobs you know ;)

I've been buying up and painting the old RP and Gren stuff too. Stuff I could never afford as a kid, better to snatch em up now before they get even more pricey

Between Iron Wind Metals and Ral Partha Europe, most of the Ral Partha stuff is still readily available, aside from the Official AD&D minis. For Grenadier, the Italian company Mirliton has most of their catalogue.

I had a spurt years ago where I got tons fo Ral Partha and Grenadier stuff off of Ebay, and have gotten more or less what I have wanted from most of their ranges.  A few things still escape me, but I have so much hanging around that I'll never get to paint everything I've already got.

Yup, quite true.  There is also going to be a new company coming out soon, a part of Ral Partha, called Ral Partha Legacy, that will be selling more of the old Partha items.  They are also selling the Chaos Wars figures that were in their previous Kickstarters.  There are a lot of things available, but still some Meier items missing from his classic line Personalities and Things that Go Bump in the Night.

Amazing work, as always...

That particular figure is a long-standing favorite of mine.  There were not many left-handed figures out there when he was released in ~1977.

I didn’t even think of that and I’m left handed!

A very masculine Farrah Fawcett look he’s got going on there!

Or Shaun Cassidy at a Ren Faire, lol...

Great work as per usual. I love these old sculpts. I'm glad Iron Winds has kept these alive.

Yeah, I wholeheartedly agree, beautiful sculpts plus little pieces of miniature history!

Hello all you fine purveyors or all things Reaper and miniature related!

So here this evening, I'm posting up a miniature sculpted by Dennis Mize back in 1989 (I actually looked at the bottom before adhering him on to his base) and you may or may not recognize him.

He's a more "realistic" version of a certain comic book classic, Groo the Wanderer, officially named in the Iron Wind Metal Site as a Brainless Barbarian:

In case you've never actually met him, here is what he looks like in the two-dimensional world:

Super-fun mini to paint, pretty straightforward, the only issue that I had created in my mind was painting his tunic orange, kind of to match his comic book coloring, but in the end it was a bit easier than I thought.  I think it was also way back in the day that maybe Dark Horse Miniatures made cartoon versions of him as miniatures.  I would one day love to snag some of those, but that will be for another Ebay adventure I'm sure.

So a double blast to the past, both in comic book and miniature form, hope you enjoy!

Finally I finished my conversion of Nienna Elfen Ranger. I pretty much changed every aspect of the original mini.

New things attempted: Cloth textures and freckles.

      C&C very welcome.

Areas to improve: Blends (smoother is always better), finer texture patterns, sculpt could be a little cleaner in some places.

Here's an odd one.  Anyone know of a miniature of someone over-bundled up against the cold?  I have this vision of an elf who has made his home in a frigid land despite being unaccustomed to the weather.  Just wondering if there's a playful model like that out there of a character wearing too many cloaks and scarves.

It's not-essential but I would love the opportunity to bring this weird character to life.
      ----
As an addendum, if you have suggestions for models that could be easily converted I'm also interested.  Or resources for sculpting scarves and the like.

      Hello Reaper brethren,

So some more Shadowrun tonight, a Female Rigger with Pistol, sculpted by Jim Johnson, that enigmatic sculptor of yore.  I ended up really liking this figure, just general fun, and when I saw her shirt and coat, it reminded me a little bit of a Russian sailor, so tried some stripes on the t-shirt and some kind of dark blue peacoat.  I was really struggling to figure out what color I wanted her boots to be and almost made them bright yellow, but then calmed down and went for a redstone shadow base color.  I of course see all my imperfections and dots of dust but it seems that for the most part, once I've gotten to that part of taking pictures, unless I see something really gawdawful, I'm just not going to do any repainting or touching up.  So here she is in all her lilac haired glory:

I took a lot of different angles because she's one of those not so flat figures, where just a front and back seem to be enough. As always, metals are torture, but if you don't keep trying to paint something you'll never get better, so just paint and paint again.

      So, enjoy!
