Well, looks like Hasbro is doing their own version of a kickstarter for a new release of one of the all-time classics.  I don't know if their site for the crowdfunding would be considered as a commercial site, but I'm sure it will be easy enough to find.  I'm in!

I know of a Patreon that is specifically "Heroquest" mini releases.....

I think they are called "Retro Crusade" or something. I know it was "Retroquest" but they had to change due to someone else had the name.

I'll look into it, but I really wasn't into Heroquest back in the day.

I actually have been painting their tribute to the original Zombie mixed in with the mass of other Zeds.

I'm excited about this, I like the look and the updates toward modern sensibilities (more female Heroes and Monsters).  Heroquest is what got me into miniatures to begin with

I'm struggling to find polite words to describe how I feel about this right now.

Canada and United States only. This means it's literally impossible to "legitimately" purchase a copy in the country where the game was originally released. You know. The one I live in.

I would have been more likely to buy in to this if they had released the original miniatures with this. As it is I think I'll just keep moving forward building my own set. Cheers.

Lawl, even better it also isn't available in Quebec...

And no shipping cost info on the main page, at least that I can find anyways.

This is super tempting. I owned the original Hero Quest, and I'm still sad I didn't hold on to it for the terrain, if nothing else. They were the first minis I got into painting, and my first real introduction to fantasy RP style games. This is a major nostalgia itch for me, but I'm not sure if it's worth it or not...

One of the first things I noticed.

Most likely because of our language laws that require a French translation included somewhere. Our contest laws are also something that eliminates us from lots of fun stuff.

If I want it hard enough, I'll find a way.

Also: A MINIMUM goal of $1,000,000 USD?!

Seeing the current progress, they're at $566,000 at the time of this writing, so no worries there. But seeing the foreseeable unlockable goals, they're not the most generous.

They're already over $565,000 only 5 hours in.

Gonna talk to the missus and see what she thinks, but I'm leaning towards going all in!

I still have a somewhat beat up copy of the original and 2 expansions. From the look of this it's the same game with updated minis. Don't like them enough to pay nearly $400 with shipping. My oldest was obsessed with it for awhile and we played so much I got kind of sick of it. If it was cheaper I'd be tempted but now not really interested.

See I never had it - just played at a friend's house.  I've got little boys now and they'd love it, but with that price point, especially with shipping, I may just have to wait for retail.

I plugged my US address in and was given a "standard" shipping option of $25.

I never really played Heroquest much growing up so I doubt I back this, but there's plenty of time for me to change my mind.

It would be interesting to know the market price for the game, once it is released.

With the insane shipping, it might be best for those outside of the US to wait for retail.

We have one copy of the original - Megan's Mum has what was my second copy - all painted up. ::):

Guns, ninjas, hobbits, dogs, monkeys, pumpkins, and mancatchers.

Sure, you *say* you could otherwise do some conversion. But good luck finding a mancatcher *and* a monkey.

Stuff's in metal and cast in the USA. Magnets are from China, but they have multiple suppliers.

Looks interesting for the terrain, if not the miniatures. Two armies package includes two 20"x20" fortresses for less than $100.

There are a couple of things that give me pause, though. First time creator, and claims to be in Chicago but English is clearly not his first language. May not mean anything but makes me wonder.

"After over three years in the making, we are proud to present you the Eternal Eight - a WORLD'S FIRST 3D mini war game with innovative real 3D RELIEF.
The goal of the game is to  capture the enemy’s King. The advantages of Eternal Eight are the 3D castles, fortresses and villages with a myriad of traps, labyrinths and  secret passages. All of the army bases (castles, villages, fortresses) are easy to assemble and move around.
The game can be easily incorporated into your existing game table setup or provide a great addon to some of your existing mini war games."

So I dug an old mini out of the bottom of my box of forgotten lead - the 1989 Firbolg by Ral Partha. This classic figure deserved better than being lost for  a generation so I decided to paint it up and take a few photos on the way.

It was in fine shape except for the broken / missing handle and pommel for the sword, so I started with a repair job - pin it to win it.

A quick test of my sculpting skills, I used milliput to add a new handle over the pin.  I gave the whole model a new prime with vallejo surface primer through my airbrush. Overall, not too bad and one quick mold line removal later and a touch up prime and it was ready for some color.

Time for getting some basic color on the model. I started with reaper golden shadow for the skin. It's a nice warm base to paint over, so I was pretty hopeful that it would provide the right base for the reaper warrior flesh  I planned on using later.

Next up. some shadow. I used vallejo model air burnt umber for the shadows and for a first coat of the leather bits.

This is the Chasme from the AD&D Planescape line from Ral Partha (SKU 11-649).  Painted with the new mermaid scale paint from the pre-order Brinewind set.  Painted over Coal Black it makes great shiny insect carapace, and over white, awesome looking insect wings.  I also had fun making a lava river for this creepy demon critter.

      Story
Corvus Corax Miniatures is a small hobby project created in 2013. Since then, four projects have successfully funded on Kickstarter and all have been fully delivered on time without any delays. The feedback from the backers have only been positive!
The goal of this project is to raise funds for the production a total of four (4) miniatures for the Sons of Yetl Black. The miniatures will be cast in high quality, non-toxic resin. The scale of the miniatures is 35mm (measuring to the eyes in a standing, straight pose, although some characters may be slightly larger because they are supposed to be large characters).
Strendu Bodaway Pachoa Niyol  (Actual copies of the resin miniatures. Note that the resin miniatures below are not 100% in scale with each other, but resized for editing purposes.)
