The Rise Of Obliterarium - Fantasy Miniatures

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I saw this show up as an ad:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2000354525/obliterarium-fantasy-miniatures?fbclid=IwAR20xQhhw01YcUJZk1z41Q8DcAAO7TWXzk8QzVcDAcVkoH3QA8SzLHUUMgk

Looks good but looks very familiar.  Is anyone else familiar with the Legendarion site?  It's no longer in existence but it advertised the same thing and some of the models look identical to ones I saw and even purchased back then.  They were in the Ukraine I believe and this one is showing Ireland.  Does anyone know anything more?  Asking only for curiosity sake.

I purchased two busts from Legendarion ( Ukraine) a few years ago.

No idea if this is the same company?

Perhaps they bought the rights to the models.  I am positive the model of the dragon and its rider were on the Legandarion site.  I had seen it quite a few times and was planning to purchase it before the site was taken down.

Ouch, Legendarion is down.. Boo. Sad to hear. Wanted some of their busts, but never had a chance to have enough spare cash.

Some kind of cool models.  @Glitterwolf might like the Quezeco... the big snake god.

I really am only interested in the KS Exclusive but I can't spend $400 just to get it.

I do like that one.

One the other hand I already have files to print a huge one from Lost Kingdoms, a smaller one from Artisan Guild, a small one from Thingiverse and I'm getting a big one from Epic Miniatures next month..

I have more Coatls then I actually need..

I'm not sure what to think. Some of the models in there look incredibly similar to some of the old Legendarion stuff (and ones I kind of wanted to get my paws on), so there is that, but at the same time we would be talking $100 CAD give or take, so I'd definitely have to think about it...

They also seem to be dodging the mention of Legendarion, hmm.

They originally called themselves "Mythic Monolith", an obvious reference to the unrelated Mythic and Monolith boardgame companies. They've changed their webpages, but if you search on "Obliterarium mythic monolith" you can find references to when they called themselves "Mythic Monolith".

Waard, on this Beasts of War thread, also suspects the creator may be a scammer. The KS says it's from Ireland, but the website is Ukranian, and he finds the identity of the creator suspicious.

BoW : https://www.beastsofwar.com/news/preview-kickstarter-miniatures-mythic-monolith-game/

Legendarion is also Ukranian, so I guess I'd check with Cadwallon about this KS, and ask the Magical Miniatures folks got the rights and find some way to confirm it. With this also being a First Created project from a company with no reputation, that's enough yellow flags for me to not back the project. Do your own due diligence!

Those who know me well generally know what a massive Darkest Dungeon fan I am so I've been very good to not post about this one yet. I've been holding off 'til nearer release date to avoid putting a thread up too early. There is going to be a kickstarter for a Darkest Dungeon boardgame. This makes me happy. It will have miniatures! This makes my heart sing with Joy. It's going to be by Mythic Games. This makes me somewhat concerned. I've heard horror stories about their rulebooks needing updates and finally becoming playable  a year or two after release (or even in a second crowdfunding campaign if it's their Joan of Arc game).

That being said it will have gorgeous miniatures that, while similar to many of the unofficial Darkest Dungeon miniatures, knock then pants off many of them. I'll probably be backing this for the figures alone but I appreciate any concerns that people might have.

They claim they're looking to launch some time in late October or early November.

There are a few more pictures and a handful of videos doing the rounds at the moment including two or three gameplay sessions. Here's what I was able to piece together from them.

It’s a campaign game. You don’t play as the Heir. You play as the Heroes. You randomly generate dungeons then head inside making important choices about your resources (food, torches, spades etc). When you meet monsters you lay out a mini dungeon board and fight it out.
Heroes and enemies occupy four positions. Attacker, Defender, Ranged and Support. The skills you can use are based on the position you’re in. The battles have a four round limit so they don’t drag on too long. Take too long and you have to retreat back into the corridor. Corridor encounters happen. There is a scouting system.
Every 3 dungeons you have to tackle a boss dungeon. You randomly generate the boss beforehand and he has in town effects and other effects so you really want to get rid of him when the time comes. Boss battles are all or nothing. If you fail a boss battle you don’t retreat. You just loose the entire party.
After 3 bosses you go into the Darkest Dungeon itself to end the game. So that’s 9 dungeon runs (or 12 depending on if the boss dungeon counts as part of the once every 3 dungeons frequency) then the end game run to complete the entire campaign.
They currently only plan to have 8 core heroes in the game (you can bet the other 7 or 9 will be stretch goals). When you loose a hero there are two replacement heroes in the stagecoach. Take a new hero. The stagecoach does not appear to generate new heroes beyond these two replacement heroes. If one player’s hero dies and they are unable to obtain a replacement from the stagecoach then you all lose. Game over man. Game over.
They intend to launch around late October or early November.
Mythic kickstarter campaign lengths are as follows.
Time of Legends: Joan of Arc 32 days
      Solomon Kane: 24 days
      Reichbusters 10 days
      Super Fantasy Brawl 8 days
Time of Legends: Joan of Arc 1.5 15 days
      Enchanters: East Quest 11 days
      Steamwatchers 11 days
Hel – the Last Saga 14 days
So we’re probably looking at 8-15 days which is quite a short period to scrounge up cash in.

Draco Studios, the folks that gave us Dragons of the Red moon, Legendary Dragons, and Dragonbond:Batttles of Valerna have launched another kickstarter.

This time it's different.  It's Plastic versions of 7 of their dragons from previous campaigns, accompanied by a PDF or Hardcover book with 7 high level adventures (of 4 sessions) to fight each of them using D&D 5e along with some epic combat rules. new items, etc.
There's also a free sample adventure
