Mantic's Northern Alliance army features some great fantasy barbarians dressed for cold weather.

Woah!  These are some awesome minis!  Even if not for the elf character, i might have a use for them.  Do you know how they size up compared to Reaper?  I recently bought a bunch of 28mm vikings from Victrix that ended up being true 28 and they look absolutely diminutive compared to the rest of my minis.

Blandco (YouTube channel) just posted about the Mantic Kings of War Vanguard Northern Alliance war band packs.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4E-IoMHQ-9c

He got a set with some Yetis and Huscarls, as well as the clansmen. His set can be found on Amazon right now for $38. I just ordered the 20 clansmen unit for $28 from Amazon. (Both prices from US Amazon; if you are in Britain, you can order straight from Mantic without insane shipping costs).

Here are a couple screenshots from Blandco’s video, showing scale. He appears to have based the humans on something slightly larger than 25mm bases.

D&D mini’s, both pre-painted and Nolzur’s (I think).

Reaper, Paizo/WizKids, Mantic, WotC/WizKids x2.

This is next to a Free Folk Raider mini from the CMON Song of Ice and Fire game, which is another option you could look into (though it’s 13 mini’s vs. 20, which either set is $28).

The Victrix Vikings intrigue me. Could you post a picture with one next to a WizKids D&D mini, or Reaper’s Garrick the Bold?

Need to get myself Sir Forscale.  But here's a handful wizkids and reapers next to them.  I was discouraged by the small size so I never finished attaching the arms.

They were going to be lead by this already overly sized reaper figure so they just didn't cut it.

They are comparable to the size of Frostgrave minis (Victrix on the left.  Frostgrave on the right.)

Armless grey ones are victrix, the blue one is from one of the Wizkids D&D boardgames, the white one is a Wizkids Nolzur's unpainted.

Victrix in grey.  Reaper Bones in white and painted.

The models themselves are really cool.  They come in a nice variety and are very customizable.  They just looked super small against my existing collection and didn't have the intimidating image I was hoping for.  Here's a shot of some of the rest of the sprue.

I only bought a single sprue off ebay, and i think it was about $12 or so for the sprue with six bodies.  Looks like they come in sets of sixty for roughly $50 before shipping.

They're fairly normal human sized. I'd say around 28-30mm heroic scale. They're not as tall as Kingdom Death's 35mm figures, for example, or Ludus Magnus Studio's 35mm figures for their boardgames. They might look a bit tall next to some of the Hasslefree 25-28mm figures, for example. They're also bundled up in thick suits like Inuit or ... you know... Wildings who've just come down from north of the wall, for example.

Slightly smaller than GW's imperial humans. Definitely smaller than Sigmarines. Would you like me to dig them out and take some size comparison photographs?

The Snow Fox comes on the sprue. Technically in the army list it's an upgrade you can give to independant character models who don't go in a unit but putting it on the unit sprue means you've got no excuse to not put them on characters.

Also you might want to look into Ludus Magnus's Giovanni Del Nord. He's significantly shorter than most of the rest of their range but he looks like he knows nothing about that.

You know nothing Giovanni del Nord.

His beard is so fine it's practically stubble and you could easily get away with painting it as a slightly pointy chin, a well defined jawline, and slightly protruding top lip. He's slightly shorter than the recent Song of Ice and Fire miniatures from CMON/Dark Sword and he's about the same size as the Mantic northern barbarians (but obviously not wrapped up anywhere near as thickly). He's got a nice distinctive wolf's head design on the shield and the sword pommel. The quillons (crossguard) are massive but could probably be trimmed down pretty easily.

He appears to have based the humans on something slightly larger than 25mm bases.

Those would be 30mm round lipped display bases (aka Warmachine bases aka Malifaux bases) and it looks like some 30mm flat bases as well (and some irregular integral bases too).

I appreciate the offer, but @ksbsnowowl beat you to it!  While they aren't what I was looking for, they seem like they'd be a great fit with my winter-themed project.  Just need to decide if they'll be part of my good frost-wardens or part of the evil viking-esque death cult.  Might try hunting for some more spooky-armored folks for the latter.

Just imagine if you were running a Lone Wolf game set in Kalte (Magnamund's version of the north pole) where the Ice Barbarians of Kalte practically look like this but go around on skis with kids in pappooses on their backs and the children shoot arrows at you!

Woah!  Those are some cool images!  That actually makes me think I could make the Mantic minis work for some baddies.  Still think it'd be nice to have a few armored and furred bigger guys though.  Something to match with their leader:

Even given the scale issue, my mind just keeps coming back to those Victrix Vikings. I’m sorely tempted to buy a set.

A part of me thinks their slight scale could be mitigated somewhat by consistent basing “rules” for ones own collection. Put larger-scaled miniatures, such as the aforementioned Mantic Northern Alliance figures, on thin 25mm wafer bases (such as the Nolzur’s line bases). Put smaller-scale figures, such as the Victrix Vikings, on thicker bases, such as Reaper’s Base Boss gaming bases.

Maybe I’m just trying to talk myself into a fool’s errand, and that plan wouldn’t really work out in practice. But another part of me really wants to see...

I use a wide variety of companies for minis. I started doing like you said back when I started playing Frostgrave. The Frostgrave minis work well with various 28mm historical plastic. Reaper minis are all over the place for size too. So the big minis get thin or no bases and the shorter ones get the thicker GW or Reaper bases so they look a bit closer in size.
