Stubbdog
Kinda a two part question related to a mini that I am considering purchasing: First from the miniature side of things: miniature 14035 - Balthor, the evil Priest. What's that in his left hand? The fantasy Fig finder just says he is a cleric anti-paladin with a mace and a skull. For those of you that already have this mini does it look more like its a lantern or an evil incense burner? If Mr. Klocke happens to lurk, how did you intend it to be? Second question comes from the game side: What type(s) of henchlings would Balthor, the evil Priest command?
pae
I think it's an insence stencher, but I could be wrong. I think Talin did the concept art for him, but I haven't seen him on the forums in a while. He would be the true authority, I think.
shakhak
I believe he is a Cleric Hero. So he doesn't command anything. He is part of the Overlord faction so you'll be deploying him with Onyx Golems, Chevaliars, Wights, and many other truly evil, power hungry soldiers of Craclaw. I bought the mini just because it is so freaking awesome looking. If I remember correctly the skull has flames coming out the top and is attached to a chain which he is grasping. So it could be used either way, although I've never seen a flaming incense burner. It is a fantasy fig, make it whatever you want.
Stubbdog
Thanks ShakHak, Thats really what I was looking for. Tell me, would he ever be deployed with: Orcs? evil versions of Templar Knights? I don't really play Warlord, so I don't know?
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted August 6, 2004 Moderator Share Posted August 6, 2004 Well, the Reven are neutral, and the Black Legionairres are evil, so most likely, one could see him with either.

Reaperbryan
And there's nothing to stop you from assembling your favorite Warlord figs, including Balthon, and playing them. It's perfectly legal if you stick to "Only combine Neutrals and Evils, or Neutrals and Goods - Never Goods and Evils in the Same army". The Warlord Section of the store, however, does break down all Warlord figs into their respective armies, so you can see what type of figures are in his faction. It is a Skull, suspended by a chain to serve as a censer or other incense burner, most frequently used in organized religious rituals. However, Balthon receives 2 Melee Attacks, indicating that it also serves him as a Mace/Flail in the Game. They are not flames, but a Spiked Crown. Stubbdog
Well, as I said, I really dont play Warlord. This is ore asking realted to painting one or more miniatures for a friend. I saw the skull and had an idea, related to painting it as a lantern and the light effects it would have across him and the rest of the intended diorama. The fact that it is intended to be part of a diorama is why I asked who else he would be associated with. The particular poses of the Legionaires with swords, and the new Black orc that is still in GREEN worked well with my intended setup, hence why I asked about them. So, thats why I asked all these questions. With the definitive word coming from Mr Bryan, that its an incense burner, well, they really dont produce light, just smoke, and therefore change the whole concept behind my diorama. So, gotta rethink the thing. Thank you for all the responses.
Ech'Estar
Just because it was intended to be an incense burner, doenst mean you have to think of it as one. Just paint it up as a lantern and nobody will know. I mean, if we couldnt tell, someone who takes a peak at your diorama won know unless they specifically ask a reaper peep. *wink* Its not like there's any guidelines on what the fig has to have.
