3D Printing Patreons

Right now:

Signum Workshop

One Gold piece

Mini Monster Mayhem (Their discord and the 3D printing knowledge there is more useful to me than a lot of the models)

3DArtdigital

I've avoided Titan forge for the second straight month, and I dropped Lord of the Print as well since it seems like they are moving away from what they were doing towards an army style like Titan Forge.

All my other patreons are painting patreons and I may shuffle those next month too

What painting ones do you have?

Holy moly.. went ahead and grabbed the MiniMonsterMayhem pack.  That dragon is MASSIVE by default.  The base alone is 15" tall....

That sounds like a birthday present for Mum!

So how do you guys like your stl files presented for patreons.  Basic, detailed, monochrome with an arty splash of red?

Relatively plain or monochrome. Artisan Guild, Titan/Cyber forge, Twin Goddess, etc. are good examples

The multi-color ones annoy me - they imply a higher standard than they usually deliver.

This is at least part of the reason I have kind of given up on Heroes Infinite. Their render style is rather deceptive.

I had thought about this since I already have some of the related figures and started taking a closer look.  The kamaitachi riders looks like an example of "just because you can doesn't mean you should."  Someone has already commented, and they say they will add in some more contact points,  but even so... at what point does a sculptor say "One tiny needle attachment should be enough to support an entire mount and figure."?

I've seen similar things pop up on a couple other patreons. I wonder if it isn't a byproduct of sculpting digitally and not physically. Or some artists aren't accustomed to sculpting mini's, but models for games or movies.

They keep saying that they're done with this theme and then keep coming up with awesome new ideas for it, lol.  Loving this one too.

Yup, that's why I didn't, I liked the set at first but then I saw these contact points.

Let's avoid frustration and throwing 3Dprints around...

I suspect so.  The thing is, they've got six armies going and have been at it long enough to know better.  Doing test prints prior to posting a preview would also help catch problems like that.

If you really like them it's not the end of the world.  You can just treat them like a flying creature and 3D print yourself a flight stand, or do it the old fashioned way and build up a base.

Villages Hope is doing the anime style animal people - i.e. basically people with ears and/or horns added on. The first batch is up.  Not my favorite thing but given as I've already paid for it...

Those miniatures are giving me a horrible flashback to a harem fantasy series that I was asked to review. (I do not like harem fantasy - I have no idea why I was chosen to review it.)

I'd never encountered Print Miniatures before - but I gotta say, those are some ugly spaceships.

And I mean that in the best possible way.

If/when I ever run the Salvage Crew campaign, those fighters would be great for mercenary escorts, when the PCs need to go to a hot zone, or as raiders when I feel like the PCs need some combat to keep them awake.

Pretty much guns and engine, not much else. That dockyard crane is also pretty sweet.

Combine that with some off the Papsikel releases... would make a good start, I think.

Wha... they've been mentioned in this very forum.  @PaganMegan, does grump suffer from selective reading?

Grump tends to read the page that is showing, not going back several pages.

You may not have noticed, but there are over a hundred pages to this topic.

*EDIT* You may want to try the Search function - Print Minis has never been mentioned as a company in this thread. Neither has Print Miniatures - they are both only used in the 'you can print minis' sense, never as a company name.

The current forum's search function can be a bit too precise.  Since I typed in "Print Mini" rather than "Print Minis" it misses it. I suppose that is better than searching for "male" and also getting "female" like the old site. Anyways, that was back in March, so I don't expect you to scroll back that far.
