I've got another question for you @Reaper_Jon - with paints for the limited Palette...  Out of production and/or limited edition paints allowed provided they're Reaper?  Also, are ones produced by Reaper for others allowed, like the CAV paints?

Yes to both of those questions!

Hi!

Its my first time doing a league like this, and I have two questions.

For the yearly model, do we need to provide a photo at beginning of league of 1st model and then photo at end of league of second model? OR can I just post one pic at end of the year of them side by side?

For the bust, are we allowed to use non-reaper models, as I don't see many busts on the store?

Thanks!

The later, i would post when the second one is finished with both pictures side by side.

Question on August and September limited palette. August says "Ink White Red". Any color of ink or is that a typo and should be "pink"?

For September it says "purple purple purple". So just 3 colors of purple?

From conversation on the Discord, people are saying this is "ink". Reaper only has brown ink or black ink. So we would have to use either of those? Not liners or clears? Seems pretty limiting.

Sorry, another question. @Reaper_Jon on the yearly 365 mini, if I paint a mini in February that I painted last February, that fulfils the rules right? To me it seems weird to have a yearly challenge that you can't finish this year if you have to paint the first mini this year. I can prove I painted the first one last year because it's posted on my socials. Just checking because it is what I plan on doing.

It's easier to get answers here. On discord, 20 people throw in conflicting opinions and no answer seems really official.

From my understanding - anyone who paints a model beginning of this year January for instance - can repost it end of the year sometime in December for credit.  We are not setting strict confirmation or verification that it be painted 365 days apart this year.  It's about seeing the growth over the year.  As per the RCL notes in Discord -  "Aim for January/December"

It's only redeemable for credit once per year though per person.

Right, so if you can only do it once a year and it is supposed to show growth from year to year, if I paint something I painted last year, to me, that is following what the rules say. That is why I was asking for clarification. I am not the only one who has asked so the rule is a bit ambiguous. "Aim for January/December" doesn't really clarify as people tried posting things this month and were told to wait to post both minis at the same time in December. In that case, it should just say "Post both of your minis in December."  So everyone doing the RCL should have all painted a mini on January 1 and then everyone posts on December 31? That seems silly and also would probably be after the quarterly and yearly raffles. If you painted at the end of January and posted on December 1, that's not 365 days. See what I'm saying? Maybe I am reading too much into it but I tend to be a pretty literal person.

The challenge is 30 minis in 30 days (not necessarily 1 mini each day.) I've been prepping a few figures each week since August, and this year's theme is Science Fiction:

      Team Terminator:

      XairBot (Small) 49012
      XairBot (Medium) 49013
      CyberReavers I (2) 50354
      CyberReavers II (2) 50355
      CyberReaver 845
      Enforcer 847

      Team Survivor:

      HESCO barriers (2)
      Starship Generator 80053
      Tess, Adventuring Heroine 49020
      Slade, Cyborg Hero 49018
      Nova Corp:Female 80013
      Nova Corp:Soldier 80012

      Terrain:

      Gothic Tank Traps/objective markers (2)
      3d printed scatter terrain
      Crates (Large and Small)(2) 77248
      Jersey Barriers (2)

      More Stuff:

      IMEF: Reggie Van Zandt 80017
      Viceroy Enforcers (3) 30029
      Starship Generator 80053 #2

      Obligatory Fantasy:

      Cats&Catacombs
      Dreadmere wight 44022
      Benedict Baker
      dark elf w/bow 1128
      Liriel Silverlocks 2458
      DGS games female

Not shown: Blood Nebula Mercenary 49017, Power Generator 72611 (2)-- still in blister packs.

That gets me to 30-ish, depending on whether I count things like the barriers and crates as single pieces or not.  Still working on getting the last few pieces washed and primed and identified.

I am stunned at my recently arrived Sophie's Revenge, and so excited to get it to the painting table (I will have to significantly reconfigure my painting space to ensure I have enough room...  As well as buy LOTS of new brown paint, ha!)  It is a thing of beauty, even without a lick of paint on it.

One of the first things I noticed was how the magnetized masts SNAP to the deck, hard.  That's what you want, so they'll stay firmly in place.  But when you remove 'em, they'll likely scratch the heck out of the painted deck.  So I plan to cut disks of black felt to glue to the underside/ magnet-side of the masts, so that when they stick, they're more gentle.  Thin felt should not affect how they stick, but it should make a big difference on the ship's wear and tear.

Are you planning on painting yours?  What strategies are you going to adopt to make it as beautiful as you can, while still keeping it sturdy as a plaything for your RPGs, wargames, or maybe even little kids (don't judge!  mine are gonna be all over this thing!)

StackaRack is a customisable plastic rack for miniature paints, designed to hold pots or bottles from any of the major manufacturers.

Paint collections have a way of growing organically, and most of the current paint rack solutions out there are fixed to specific configurations, and made for a specific type of paint pot. If you're like me, and collect multiple brands of paint, that can make organising them a little frustrating, and so we thought we would try to fix that.

StackaRack was designed to hold any of the major miniature paint ranges - from the dropper bottles used by Vallejo and Army Painter, to the tall pots from the likes of Privateer and Reaper (and GW's old range), and the current stubby Citadel pots. The injection moulded plastic parts will fit together with plastic clips, allowing you to build it how you like, and disassemble and reconfigure it as needed.

Check out the project live on Kickstarter here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/spiralarmstudios/stackarack?ref=acpi8t
