do i need to wait till January to place an order to get a January new release for the new release category?

That is for the quarterly so it can be a  recent NR for anything in that quarter. So for that to be consistent, it will be a new release from Jan, Feb, or march.  and you can turn it in during those months before the quarterly resets and you can enter it again the next quarter.

How do we do the yearly 365 day model? Do we have to paint the initial mini in 2021 or do we take one we painted this year and then wait until it has been a year and paint it again in 2021?

Also, can we submit more than 1 in the same category, example 2 PC minis for 6 points or 2 dioramas for the quarterly for 30 points?

Yearly can be a mini from this year that you painted again a year later (or close to) this is meant to show progress and a comparison of the two.

No only one will be counted, once you get points for a diorama, then you cant get it again until the quarterly resets. and same for PC characters once you get points for that month you will have to wait until it resets the next month

Monthly - These are challenges that can be completed each month and will reset on the 1st of each month.

  • Recent New Release (4) - New release model from the previous month from Reaper Miniatures.

this is a monthly.  and in the rules it say previous month wich in january would be december 2020.  but in the checklist it says this quarter. just trying to clarify

Oh you are correct, sorry I thought I saw it as a quarterly! It will be the previous months new release, that is correct.

Another question!  For the color challenge, is it those 3 colors only? (I don't remember of the color challenge during Reapercon Live included black and white.) Can the mini be primed black, grey, or white?

I'm actually really looking forward to this and planning ahead! Such a clever idea!

3 colors only. and can be primed black, white, OR grey.
So if it says "Green" you can choose any shade of green you wish. Just remember to take a photo of your finished model with those three colors.

  • Duo’s (7) - You and one other person get the same model and paint it together, submit both at the same time.

  • Trio’s (10)-  You and 2 others paint the same model, submit all at the same time.

Just for clarification (because my tired brain could be interpreting incorrectly), you each get a copy of the same model and paint it. It is not getting a single copy of the model, and sharing the painting for that one mini between two/three people, right?

Though that could produce some interesting results, on more of a quarterly scale to allow for transit time.

Correct you choose a model and you both paint that model individually.

Are non-christian holidays acceptable, if so how much background do we need to provide to "prove" the mini is appropriate for the holiday?

If it is a holiday that you consider, then we will accept it. :) as long as you spent time painting and hobbying on something, thats what matters.

...so, if it says "Green" you can choose any single shade of green, or any number of different greens as long as they are all green, they count as 1 "green"? If not, what about mixing?

It says "Green" you can choose any shade of green lets say "Forest green" Then that is your green that you have chosen! and you can mix the three colors that you choose 100% thats the challenge!

I think it says reaper paints only for that challenge. i will double check it and update it if it doesnt say

You can use any paints for submissions, the only exception is the Limited Palette challenge.

That's what main section says, hence why I inquire - if it's restricted brand, I suspect many would appreciate such being mentioned, doubly so those of us who can only purchase Reaper paints in the warmer months. :)

Also, with limited to those three colours, are we allowed to use white and black for blending? (can't remember if that's already been asked)
