Question for October the Fifth!

In the list of discontinued paints, what are you going to miss the most when your supply runs out?

They are curiously already in order.

  • 9271    Dirty Bone
  • 9272    Graveyard Bone
  • 9273    Splintered Bone

I always find myself always using these off-whites.

The Rose triad and the Faded Purple triad.  Both are go to paint for mouth painting.  Chestnut Gold is another favorite.

That said, at the speed I paint, it'll be another 10 years before I notice.

Oooh yeah. Chestnut gold was another good one.

Edit: Based on Reaper_Jon's comments, I wonder if it would be possible/practical to special order a few small-batch classic colors to be delivered at the next in-person ReaperCon.

I can't imagine needing 10 bottles of one paint for myself any time soon, but I could imagine finding a group of friends to share them.

Wait, what?!

(goes back, rereads list)

^%$%^&*!!!!!!!

Considering the number of undead I paint, this is gonna hit a lot harder than the purples. Base and highlight for skeletons is discontinued.....ok, I'm just going try to maintain a bit of unrealistic hope here, since there is a new set combining the ghoul skin and vampire skin triads as Undead Flesh box, maybe there's a plan in the works for some kind of bone color box or something...Reaper has a lot of skeletons in the catalog, so it wouldn't make sense to have no paints for bone colors...

Olive shadow and worn olive—those plus olive drab are my orc skin triad, and my brother and I are working (slowly) on the Battle of Five Armies, so there are a lot left to do.

Question for October 4th

It's a busy Sunday, but you find yourself with 30 minutes where you can do whatever you want to do. How do you spend those precious minutes?

Maybe read a bit or slap some paint around.

Oof. Did not know so many paints I like were discontinued. That Saffron Sunset and Alien Flesh are going to eventually hurt. The Saffron is my go to for a base color on ropes and I use the Alien Flesh on a surprising amount of undead.

I don't know if I'm going to be burned at the stake for this but... I don't use Reaper paints. Okay, I don't use MODERN Reaper paints. I still have my old "Learn To Paint" screw-top paints from Reaper from probably a decade ago. Most of them are still good, somehow. I also don't paint as much as I should, so I have plenty.

Edit: Do you need pictures, @Crowley? ::P:

Also, I use a mix of GW and P3 paints, with those old Reaper pots. I really don't paint much.

I can't imagine anyone burning you for not using Reaper Paints.  It's all cool.  Some people love Reaper MSPs, some people prefer to be wrong.

October the 3rd

What is the best thing to have happened to you this year so far?

What is the best thing you've done for someone else?

definitely answered this question already.  :poke: ::D:

No no, you've only answered the first question... it's a bit presumptuous to speak for your other half on the second question without sworn testimony. :poke:Not a good way to start off the wedlock...

Back or not... See previous point about winter.

Some means of Delayed Order Shipping is the answer to this problem...kinda like Delayed Blast Fireball but a much longer delay, and paint, not flame.

And this is why I keep pushing for a limited release window in the summer for limited edition paints, and have for two years now.  The problem with delayed shipping is it winds up taking space, and can wind up being lost, or picked for someone else's order, no matter how many notes are attached to the package.

Use whatever your comfortable with!!

My collection consists of Reaper, I even still have the taped on label MSPs (those being the first batch of MSPs), Army Painter, Vallejo, GW new & old (I still have a few pots of the Coat d'Arms style paints), Testor's, Tamiya, some Scale75. I also have craft paints but those end up being handles for various items.

Anymore, I tend to use Army Painter more then anything these days.

Mkay.... list of not in production paints that I have....

And in bold are ones I will miss a little. Bold red miss a lot. Bold italics are ones I think are coming back in Bones V? Plain italics seasonal?

Yes I enjoy my paints and there are some I will miss, but I've gotten good enough with other colors or other brands that these are more of an inconvenience than anything else. However, my local stuff is no longer Reaper, and shipping to Canada sucks. So when I run out, I'm not going to be getting whatever Reaper's new alternatives are. I'll get a different brand most likely due to ease of access.

I don't use Reaper paints anymore, but I'm surprised Old West Rose is being discontinued it was a great colour for painting lips.

Yeah, it is a useful one for lips and blush. It also was much better than the Rosy Skin triad - that one is just gloppy and never applies well for me. Old West Rose worked for pinkish skin stuff. I'll figure out some alternative, but that was definitely the go-to for a neutral pink.
