Started the series "Haunting at Hill House" while painting last night. Seems like a good show.

Wow. This show is great! One of the best Netflix shows I have watched. Too bad there is only one series and I heard the sister series Bry House gets mixed reviews.

Up this afternoon: Rocky Horror Picture Show! I'm so embarrassed to have left that off the list...

It's never truly Halloween for me without at least one viewing of this.

I remember being adamant in college about how much I disliked musicals... I mean, come on, how little work would get done if everyone literally stopped to sing about what they were doing or how they felt about it every 5 minutes? But, RHPS is one that I love, and Little Shop of Horrors is another one I enjoy (only version I've seen is the Rick Moranis one). And that's another Halloween movie if you can find it.

You are ready: Honest Trailers: "Us"

and down the rabbit hole.

I really like Honest trailers, and am careful not to watch trailers for movies I actually liked.

so  I was able to stop after a half dozen or so. (maybe 10)

that trailer caught all of my issues and added  even more in the burst of issues at the end. I do want to go look for a explanation of the racial allegory -

_ liked the themes and subtext of "Get Out" for instance, but this one was not as obvious -

until I read an article or two (just now) and started looking for subtext.   That movie needs to be looked at through more than one lense.

Loved the first Hill House ,

But the Bly House did not hold my interest very well ... 4 episodes and i moved on.

We just watched Ghost Story, the one with Fred Astaire and Douglas Fairbanks Jr.

I had forgotten how much nudity and sex was in that movie.... The early eighties was a different time.

Still pretty scary - jump scares and all.

Next - Creep Show... both of them. ::): Megan has seen those - we're in Maine, a good Stephen King movie is mandatory.

I totally get that, I'm feel the same about the Pitch Meeting videos. The John Wick one is particularly awesome.

We had a little bit of a John Carpenter fest in the last couple of days, we watched The Thing, Prince of Darkness, The Fog and They Live.

Halloween(1978 and 2018) is being saved for the night itself because I used to watch the probation with my mum when I was little so it's kind of a tradition now.

My copy of Return Of The Living Dead 3 turned up  and has been added to my pile for the weekend. I might try to watch the original Mummy before bed this morning.

The Mummy surprised me.

He shows up mostly without the wrappings, and the wrappings only seen trailing behind him as he leaves in the beginning og the movie.

Karloff was hella scarier as the mummy than as Frankenstein.

Oh, Geordie, you better not screw up this time!

There was a scene in Ghost Storie that made me wish we had a bigger tub. ::D:

I went back through the thread, and unless I missed them (entirely possible) we've tragically left some off the list!

1) The Lost Boys

2) Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight

3) Tales from the Crypt: Bordello of Blood

I think I will watch the TftC movies today/tonight, but which to watch first? I'm leaning towards Demon Knight because of William Sadler and Billy Zane. Bordello of Blood wasn't as good to me.

The Honest Trailer Reaction video with Stahelsk and Leitch is awesome too.

We watched Jennifer's Body tonight. I really like that movie, and I think Megan Fox is a better actor than she gets credit for.

I got overruled on the Hammer Collection - Megan wants stuff that Brigid can join us for - and it looks like tomorrow is a true tradition -

A long time ago, longer now than it seems,

In a place you've maybe seen in your dreams.

For the story that is about to unfold.

Takes place in the Holiday lands of old.

You may have wondered where holidays come from.

If you haven't, I think that it's time you've begun....

As long as you don't turn into a rotting corpse.... :zombie:

Ghost Story and The Shining had lasting effects on younger me....

Well we watched the first episode of The Mandalorian (S2), then I turned it over to the last half hour of Clue.  I love that movie.

Then It started.  I did not realize that Seth Green was one of the kids ("Beep-beep, Richie")!

I'm starting things off with Phantasm today. There was an intro with the Tall Man himself and it was hard to watch...
Next up, I'm thinking Return Of The Living Dead and then Return 3. If I can stay up that long.

I know, I know, 2020 is scary enough, but here are some spooky miniatures.

      First up, Fritz!

      Scooby-dooby-doo, where are you?

I like how the blue edging came out on this one.

Not super sure where to post this but this made the most sense to me. I found some fantastic miniature pumpkins at my local Joann Fabrics.

Hopefully you can find them elsewhere if you don't have a Joann's.
They come in $10 bags that are pretty big. I don't see myself ever needing to buy more.

They say "fall drieds" which makes me think they're some kind of organic. But they have the consistency of some kind of acorn or pinecone. So pretty solid. I don't think they'd deteriorate but if you're worried I'm sure a sealant of some kind would do the trick.

They come in a mix of sizes but they all look pretty good at 28mm scale. The cutting mat has half-inch squares.
Most of the pumpkins are of the artistically exaggerated size compared to a mini, and the smaller ones tend to be darker and a bit more mishapen. The coloration in them is pretty decent. I think they could use a layer of highlights but if you're in a hurry or making a huge pumpkin patch, then they look just fine.

Anyways, I hope this is useful for someone!

Inspired by the weekend question, I took some pictures of the army thus far and found that posting it in the question thread would be excessive, also that I didn't have an ongoing thread for my largest painted army so here it is. The plan is to get my Shelf of Incompleteion cleared off then work on reinforcements for this alongside my Old School Undead army.

Here we have the Pumpkin construct unit led by a Storybook Witch from Old Glory. I have 3 more of her, but the bag only came with the one flight stand and the Reaper ones I have don't fit, when I get around that, they'll form their own unit. Behind her is Rotpatch, and the scarecrow is hanging out with these guys until I can get a couple more. The constructs are filling the slot of core infantry.

Here is a Ral Partha Witch leading the Pumpkin Knight heavy infantry consisting of the Halloween Knight and converted Barrow Wardens.

Willow Greenivy leading the skeletal Pumpkin Guard. 10 newer GW skeletions and a variety of Reaper Bones.

Elise with the Pumpkin Chucker and some Bones skeletal archers providing ranged support.

A female Necromancer and the Etherial Legion of ghosts and wraiths.

An Iconic Witch, Pumpkin Spider, and friends.

A converted Brettonian Sorceress with the skeletal heavy infantry. Basically, what happens when adventurers irritate the witches.

      Bats, wolves, and allied vampires.

      Another vampire and werewolf allies.

Zombies, ghouls, and another Reaper Witch.

Beastmen and hell hounds with an infernalist witch.

I finally finished this project! This was a mini I got a forgotten number of years ago with an order during October. Being as this is a more modern vibe the first thing that came to my mind first is: Make her a neon Witch! This was such a joy to paint. It was my first real attempt at osl and sheer fabric. I used quite a few reaper paints but I will give you the main ones that pulled of the effects that I wanted. If you have other question feel free to ask and I will share with you what I used/did.
      Dominant paints used:
      Punk rock pink 09286
      Marid blue 89526
      Clear magenta 09098
      Regal purple 09238
      Clear purple 09099
      Nightmare black 09280
      Fair skin 09047
      Dark elf skin 09164
      Pure black 09037
      Pure white 09039
Let me know what you think!

      AUGH! The Great Pumpkin Came!

This was my entry in a painting league at another  miniatures forum.

In reference to the longstanding Peanuts theme of Linus sitting alone in the Pumpkin Patch waiting for the Great Pumpkin to come bringing gifts, Santa Claus-style.

It's a pity for him that Halloween is all about the scary...and the Great Pumpkin probably is not a very nice being.

The miniatures are all by Reaper, the fences are from Mantic's Kings of War Vanguard terrain. I found the simplicity of the fences really helped to sell the story here. As one of the commenters in the LPL-post stated: "Less is more".

Lots more pics, but yah gotsa clicks!
