haldir 42316 Report post Posted October 6, 2020 This one hits hard. While not a musician (well if you count air then hey I'm a master) but VH was & still is one of my favorite bands. 1984 will always be a top album & will always bring back memories of a 11 year old. RIP Eddie, you've earn it.
Thoramel 15033 Report post Posted October 6, 2020 What a shame. The tour for the 1984 album was one of the first concerts I ever attended. Probably still some of the best guitar playing I've ever seen.

Marvin 41268 Report post Posted October 6, 2020 I'm just young enough that VH were pretty much "the ones that did 'Jump'" when I was growing up, and I didn't really appreciate them until I was older and looking back to their better days. Dude could really play a guitar.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing earlier. Imagine this band.... Banali on drums, Eddie and Randy on dual guitar attack, and Phil Lynott on bass and vocals.
Glitterwolf 201765 Report post Posted October 7, 2020 (edited) I've seen them tour with Hagar in the Netherlands in the 90's. They did an encore playing Paranoid from Black Sabbath, that was so cool. Also made me feel old, because when they asked the audience if they would like them to play a Sabbath song I cheered and a lot of youngsters looked confused ( who is Sabbath?). Another dent in my self esteem... Edited October 9, 2020 by Glitterwolf 4
chaosscorpion 2414 Report post Posted October 7, 2020 I remember Diver Down over and over on cassette while traveling out to Philmont, particularly "Happy Trails" Lots of life memories tied to the music. Surprised he is gone.

haldir 42316 Report post Posted October 7, 2020 I listen to pretty much Van Halen at work last night. I never really noticed before how much Micheal Anthony's backing vocals factor into VH songs. I see the carry over to Sammy Hagar's "The Circle" supergroup album "Space Between" as well.
