With this Pit Fiend I tried to replicate an effect I saw somewhere on the internet. Essential he should look as if a furnace is burning inside of him. So instead of going from dark to light color, I put the light colors into the recesses and went darker on the more raised details. I was working for an effect like smoldering coal, were the red hot part is in the center and you have dark coal and ash on the outside.
