Tomb of Horrors (77351, 77352, 77280, and WizKids)

Excellent job! The 2D bases are nicely done. I've been pondering painting my R&B minis but not sure as they see a lot of game time. I'd worry about paint flaking off, especially when taking the crew bases on and off, although I did come across this style of paint job that could save wear and tear and you an still make out what type of game piece it is as the lower half is still the character color. Also I have 8 crews and most of the extra heroes and mercenaries, way too much painting if you count all my other minis!

I have been having these exact same worries.  I originally bought R&B to steal the minis for D&D use, but I finally got around to playing the game.  I was already planning on masking off the base rims to keep the original colors in tact and to avoid rub-off on the Heroes.  But the crew in particular get handled A LOT.  I was prepared to just cover them in matte spray to protect them and accept some wear as unavoidable.  But I'm also intimidated by all the painting.  Might paint up the Heroes nicely and then a nice version of each of the different crew sculpts, the rest of the crews/bosuns can get a simpler paint job of some kind just to color them up.
I also have quite the collection.  Missed out on the KS but have slowly been tracking down lots on ebay.  I Regret not getting these on KS as the re-sale prices are insane!

But I plan on painting 2D wooden decks on the bases.  Easier than trying to sculpt bases on hundreds of models.

Sweet! That is easily the best iteration I've seen of that demilich mini (and definitely better than when I tried it), so your work paid off.
Love the color transition on Acererak's tattered cerements from dull red to eldritch hydrogen pink.

Those cultists are always a delight. Look forward to their show-off post!

You know, since Wizkids apparently has the go-ahead to use official WotC artwork for their sculpts, and since they've done so many set-dressing pieces, it's a real surprise they haven't made a Great Green Devil Face sculpt. You know the one I mean! Seems like that's just leaving money on the table.

Awesome work, the OSL that emanates from the Lich hand is really cool.

I also like the fact that the Demi-Lich model perfectly fits in the Summoning Circle, it makes a great setting.

I noticed that the SKUs were subsequent and it made me realize that they were clearly designed to go together!  Had to keep them compatible.

Hello everyone, here's a nightmarish model I completed last night. Dark Heaven Legends 02896, Aserlis the Liche King was sculpted by Werner Klocke. All painted with Reaper MSP paint.

The flickering glow of the torchlight illuminates the dusty, hieroglyphic-covered walls of the forgotten tomb.  Moonglow clings to his hat as he carefully scans for signs of the hidden entrance.  A small indentation betrays the location of a door in the stone wall.  Carefully, the adventurer pushes his way through.

The room is barren and dark, except for a single pillar of light shining down upon a small pedestal.  On top sits a small box.

Moonglow carefully crosses the chamber and approaches the box.  He lifts the lid and peers inside.

      "Ah, there's my old minis!"

      Who's Your Mummy?

Today I felt like sharing some more of my older work that hasn't been posted on the forums yet.  This time it's the Bones mummies that are getting the spotlight.

These mummies were one of my first large painting projects.  It seemed impressive at the time to be working on 8 things simultaneously.  They're a bit dusty from all the drybrushing, but I think they look the part, and I'm a fan of the red-gold color scheme I settled on.

      More Photos beneath the spoiler:

These were a fun little set and were perfect adversaries when my players visited the City of Time and sought to stop a Lich's return to power.  After failing once an resetting the clock, they had to fight their way through a mummy-filled temple complete with crawling claws and sand-filling rooms to stop the Mummy Lord from returning to his former Lich status.

my second miniature! I finished this about a month ago, but my matte finish finally came in so it is truly complete on the painting front. I'll be making a base once I get into my new house, so once I get started on that I'll add more pictures.

The last few weeks have been very busy with very little time or inspiration to paint, as the general lack of posts lately will bear full witness to.

As you might imagine, I was going for green magical flames.  I struggled with this, and it did not turn out as I had envisioned it.
This one I count as a bit of a failure, and I am not at all satisfied with how it turned out. Maybe I will repaint the whole thing at some point but for now I am rather sick of it.
At leaast it does look much better IRL on the table than when magnified in photos. Somthing which is a small comfort. The white for "teeth" does not work at all in the pictures and I might just redo that part and leave the rest alone. Or not. The wierd thing is that the white "teeth" are not that bad IRL. But once seen, it cannot be unseen...

      What is this sorcery?!
Gah! Even the captions are uninspired. I should probably just go to bed.

A pair of Bones figures quickly painted as part of my annual Thanksgiving Paint Binge. Based with white primer and then a layer of one of the Citadel white contrast paints.  Went over it with a watered down blue contrast paint, then drybrushed white.  Picked out the face and bones with watered down black ink.  I think they came out pretty well for almost no effort and they can be used in any game where you need a ghostly or summoned figure.  I'm tempted to get more and do them in red as fire spirits.
