Question November 30th.

If you could replace the actual Snow with something else.

What would fall out of the Sky instead then?

Snow is perfectly fine as it is (says the person that lives in a place that never gets any). ::P:

I wish it would snow; MN is not supposed to be green this time of the year.  It was 50 deg F here this last weekend.  When I was a kid we always went ice fishing the Friday after Thanksgiving.  My grass is still green and I am still able to harvest kale from the garden.  It's just weird.

Snow 2.0TM. All in all, the sort of fake snow you always see in movies and cartoons.

Not as cold as regular snow. Not as slippery to drive on. Not as heavy to shovel. Not as hard to get whacked in the head with by a snowball.

I still like real snow for what it does well. It's relaxing to see it gently fall. It's super bright outside when there's snow, a perfect compensation for the shorter winter days.

I'm also in the crowd that would replace snow with snow. Except I'd want it to come in various shades of fluorescent and neon colors.

Thanks for all the questions this month!

Thanks for another great month Glitter!

First off, not ash.  Sorry, Mr. Sanderson.  Great series but just no.

I'm pretty ok with snow.

Instead what I would like is to replace:

Freezing rain with snow.
Sleet with snow.
Ice pellets with snow.
And so forth.

Rain is fine.  Snow is fine.  Everything else, not so much.

Weekend Challenge November 27th / 29th.

Most of us have a favorite Fantasy/Scifi/Steampunk race.

Tell us which one, why this appeals to you, show the best pics of your creations, write a background story for your race/army/favorite character.

As I am the DM, I have different "pet races" for each of my story arcs. Lizardmen in the swamp, gnolls in the desert...etc. I have to say I especially love gnomes and hobgoblins, though. I love the quirky, magical, mysterious nature of gnomes, especially the Paizo ones. Hobgoblins are in my favorite settings (Eberron, Midgard) a militant, proud peoples who employ the other goblinoids to their service. Often they have an Asian vibe.

While I adored the book, "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" as a kid, I don't want giant pancakes falling from the sky. While it would be ironic if my place of employment was crushed by a giant pork chop or shower of bacon, the problem with rancid and rotting food would be just too much. If we were going with food, I would choose uncooked rice. Probably not any smellier than the canola rotting in the fields in the fall (which smell like baby poop), and it would solve the food crisis. Plus it's still white and wouldn't hurt falling from the sky.

Bones minis are the obvious answer. The metal ones would hurt too much. Once upon a time, Lego lost a container overboard a cargo ship. Pieces washed up all along the Eastern Seaboard. Ironically, it was the divers theme that went to the briny deep, and pieces included tiny flippers.

Sunshine. For all of those who suffer from seasonal affective disorder, and vitamin D deficiencies, I request sunshine. I used to like snow, but growing older and accumulating injuries really makes you realize how dangerous and treacherous the stuff is. Sunshine is not without its own dangers, but at least it never made me shovel it, lose my footing and slip and fall, or keep me from getting to appointments or groceries.

Is Bacon not the obvious answer?

Is it flabby bacon or crispy bacon? Because the flabby will bounce when it hits the ground, whereas the crispy will just smash into tiny bits, and then it's just wasted.

No idea who that is. The Sno I know did not dress like that, but man did he dress up nicely for various industrial events! ^_^

So the bunny rabbit is part cat...

You'd be surprised on how much "cat" is in her.......

I just want snow, we hardly ever get any around here and it would be awesome to actually build a snowman, it's been over a decade since I tried.

Thanks for the awesome questions @Glitterwolf!

Interesting difference in language there. Your buzzard would be called a hawk around here. The term buzzard would normally be reserved  for a carrion eater (unless of course that's a carrion eater I don't recognize because I've never been to Scotland). Your coot would be black around here and called a mudhen. And your goosander is called a common merganser, or just a merganser. Nice whooper swan pic! Thanks for sharing those.

Yay! I love sharing "common" species info :)

Our Buzzards are actually a generalist species of hawk that are commonly called "tourist eagles"  They, along with most of our bird of prey, have really bounced back from the damage done to the species last century by DDT. Sadly, we don't have the top 3 birds in this pic...

Our Coots are usually black, but we also have Moorhens. They're very common and usually extremely tolerant of people. Moorhens also have adorable, ghibli-esqe chicks

Finally, we have Red-breasted Mergansers, which are an oceanic duck. Absolutely gorgeous wee things, but really wary of people. I really miss seeing them since moving inland.

I wonder if you might be one of the few.  I was in Glasgow six or seven years ago and it snowed half an inch.  I sat at the hotel bar and watched cars, and trucks and busses slide sideways down the hill below the hotel.  It didn't look like they were prepared for it.
