Thank you!

I found that darkening the wings really helped to "sell" the white on the scales. Here's a link to the rest of the photos

That white on the arm of your dragon is looking so much better already, keep up the good work!

interesting.

I think a pinky-human flesh color might work for the wings.  I do like the high contrast on yours, so ill see if pink/skin is enough.

Roaring ahead :

at current speed, he will be "Done" by the end of the year - which will meet my yearly goal for dragons (3)

I painted a lot yesterday,  but the change is mostly painting stuff that was pink (and not visible in other photos)  white.

I am mostl using the wings to hold him while I paint,  I will try and seal the body before I start taking the wings seriously.

So for the wings definate issues remain. I got a lot of suggestions from a facebook group.

but most helpful was my wife -  on how to fix the texture issue.

So I am working on applying about 10 coats of sealer to the wings to try and cover all the straight cut lines that run counter to the sculpted wing folds.

If i can close those cuts then I can glaze the wings and the it wont look so terribly streaky.

I cant remember a bones figure with this level of texture problems  any idea how it got this way?

ill add the peach/flesh tones into the wing and see how it looks when finished that way.

okay my eyes hurt.

gotta stop painting stipes.  still working on one top side, then ill spray seal the wings and start on the wing undersides.

much happier with how this is going,  the 10 layers of sealer have filled most of the cuts, and not the sculped ridges.

many hours later.

Calling the upper wing done, starting work on the  underside of the wings -

trying a clear purple and snowshadow instead of white and pink.

I have also added winter blue instead of grey in some of the white shadows on the body, and I am more pleased with the result.

That is looking really good! It's almost like he's catching the first light of dawn on his wings.

huh.  last years christmas Dragon was named "Dawnsfire" and finished on Christmas Eve.   It literally has the sun patterns on its wings.

I guess i have type.  Even when taking dragons in weird directions.

Anyway I am trying to stick with at least an hour a day painting this guy as the year ticks down.

I have just been family that I need an hour or 30min for painting and asking them not to talk to me during that time.

One Day left, and Elderspawn insists that I be done by 11:30  so we can hang out for the last bit of the year.  ::D:

added more purple in shadowed areas of scales - replacing the pink.

i stopped by the FLGS and Studied the wings on unpainted version of this white dragon, it also had the tiny cuts I found so annoying.

had to stop painting tonight cause I was getting sloppy.
