Got the second jab yesterday!

The arm started getting sore late last night and continues today.  It's not bad, I mostly just notice it when I try to lift my arm over my head (which doesn't happen often when you're an Excel-monkey).

So that's it for the immediate family (barring Strawbonnet and Strawcap who are not old enough)!

My province set out their "Roadmap to Green" late last week.  As of yesterday, estimates were that they were already 5 days behind meeting their first goal for next week (75% having had at least the first shot).  Other that doing a poor job of actually picking achievable dates, the plan seems decent.

The did have a comment that info on 2nd shots would be coming "soon", so hopefully that isn't too far off.

Nova Scotia's lockdown seems to have done a good job, they were down to 12 new cases yesterday.  They are easing restrictions a bit there.

Doesn't look like I have any chance of getting home to visit the folks (or the track) until at least July though.

BC's plan seems manageable. I think we're ahead of schedule for 1st dose vaccinations for it. 70% of adults here have gotten the 1st, and I know at least two friends who are still waiting on their appointment which is sometime in the next week.

I am glad that progress milestones (vaccinations, cases, hospitalizations) were set before restrictions lift.

Our case load keeps going down. Had first under 200/day of the year yesterday.

I have a bandaid mark tan/burned into my arm... hah.

Provincial news conference says we reached the 75% vaccination rate (first dose), three weeks ahead of schedule.

Risk levels have been downgraded pretty much across the board (red to orange, orange to yellow, etc.), so other measures have been relaxed. Like eating at restaurants outdoors is allowed. All curfews have been dropped (so we can socially distance both day and night).

Still not perfect. High school graduation proms have been cancelled. And current plans for reopening colleges this fall will require 75% full vaccination.

Number of daily cases keep dropping every week.

Well, they're finally admitting we're nowhere near everyone that wants it getting their first shot by end of June around here. Of course, those of us who didn't believe everything politicians had their paid, unscrupulous experts claim, but actually took a look at the available data and doing a bit of first order approximation math knew that all along.

Bizarrely, while my city and county are both restriction free and having very low numbers, at the other end of the state is the worst hotspot in the country right now.  It goes without saying that quite a lot of things are very different between the two locations.

DH is working at the office today. Word is that they will be going back for 1-3 days a week sometime soon.

They lifted most of the state level restrictions near me, and that was a mistake. Without a clear unified response everything is now a mess of individual businesses and offices and towns setting their own rules and pushing the need to enforce them onto low level employees. We probably should have kept standardized rules and slowly made them less strict.

They have a new plan rolling out here in Alberta...  Not sure what to think of it, but the idea that I might be able to game in a store soon is an interesting one...

It's going to be interesting to see what winds up happening with what is now ex-work though, because if the restriction on working at home is lifted soon (I think it was phase 2 it goes from required to recommended) ex-work is probably going to be making a lot of phone calls to people...

I just hope this vaccination trend continues, because I'd rather be applying for jobs in person than over the phone or through email!

My vaccination sunburn took over a week to start peeling, but it did peel a bit. I am now the tannest I've been in like.... 10 years.

BC is on a good trajectory. 7-day average keeps dropping (now ~170/day, ~30-40 of which are Vancouver), vaccination rate keeps going up. Already at over 70% of eligible population on dose 1 (12+). Some communities already have 80% of eligible population which is awesome. Hoping the dose 2 schedule goes swift and smoothly - but we are still on a delayed schedule (8 weeks). Really hoping that the US/Canada border will open soon but with vaccination requirements to cross. Seems like the politicians are whining about it possibly being lopsided on rules; but it already is regarding quarantining anyway.

As of today I'm 2 weeks out from my first shot, and I think my reward is.... I might start biking without my mask on. Never was required in the first place, but I did it out of extra caution considering case load and lack of vaccination previously. I put my vaccination sticker on my helmet and modge-podged it for rain protection, heh. Still not ready for indoor gatherings where there are unknown people (like busy restaurants), but may try to ease in by going to the small sushi place across the street that now knows my name during off-hours. Our neighborhood in particular has a super low case rate according to the map (almost 0 in the past week) so I'd be happier here than other neighborhoods.

On Sunday I met my trainer for exercise in person at a park, masked up. Went well! He got a job at a fancy new gym and is transitioning to work there... and apparently they have an outdoor section. If so I am probably joining the gym purely for the sake of outdoor exercise equipment, since I miss having equipment but I'm not ready to work-out indoors with other people around yet. That and the trainer is awesome.

Stopping at Walmart was a strange thing, it's one of the few places to still have the signs up about requiring masks...and then, inside, they kept making announcements that if you're vaccinated, you don't need to wear them every fifteen minutes or so
