Had my booster a few weeks back (pfizer after pfizer), no reaction at all this time not even the sore arm for a couple of days the previous ones gave

be glad when they have more of an idea whether Omicron is similar in severity (or better or worse) as the south african data is  from a population that's just too disimilar age wise to the uk (and also vaccination status) to really tell.

I have both of my shots.....Pfizer. I have been asked if I want the booster, but I'm not sure when I want to get it.

Here in Manitoba, we have just been exposed to 4 cases of the Omnicron variant, and I am waiting to see if this is going to impact land crossings into the U. S. ( I have a year and a half of packages to pick up from a parcel pickup place in North Dakota). It seems that the issue with our numbers sits with the south western part of the province.....unusually low number of people vaccinated.....

Hopefully those numbers increase, and EVERYONE can get to a new "normal"

Shoot! With the recent rise in cases, we'll be shutting down the office again come next Monday.

So back to working remotely from home. 😒 (even as an introvert, I miss people)

Glad it falls during the short week before my holidays. And I'll be away for a site visit upon my return, so it won't feel as bad for as long.

BC skipped from 350 cases/day to 550 to 750 in 3 days. Here goes the roller coaster again. This time with more tools but a more hardened foe >.<

I anticipate some restrictions getting put back in tomorrow regarding limiting capacity in indoor public gathering places, possibly personal gathering too. At least until we get more people boosted. I got my 2nd dose on the day Canada hit 50% population double-dosed, and I am eligible for a boost in mid-January. So by that estimate.... I bet we're gunna be stuck until end of January at least. Probably not back to square one, but not fun either. At least the dulled double-dose still seems to hold up against worst outcomes, so I don't have the fear of accidentally killing a friend 😕

Work is back to having everyone in the office masked at all times, the transmission rate in my county is more than 600 per 100k people, they want it at less than 50 per for the vaccinated to not use masks.  Also, no push for everyone to be back in the office, only 20% are back. I told my manager I wanted to be hybrid, once we go to the new normal.

We are back above our previous "wave 4 peak" as far as active cases.
The provincial government came out with a new 3 level system for their winter plan to "make things simpler", with level 1 being to lowest.  Almost immediately they came out with additional restrictions that don't follow this plan, so we were at sort of Level 1.25, and then tonight we are going to something like Level 1.75.......so much clearer.....:upside:.

We have multiple cases of Omicron confirmed earlier this week, so those numbers are expected to increase.

On the more positive I get my booster tomorrow.

My area in particular went bad fast. Vancouver proper had been the lowest case rate in the province for the majority of this mess. It was until this week. At which point WHOOOOOOSH. Even more whoosh than the rest of the province. Now bad and getting badder. Lovely.

Restrictions on gatherings went in, but minor ones for restaurants. 50% capacity for large venues. 10 people tops for personal gatherings, and in something that is entirely unenforceable, no unvaccinated people are allowed to be included even in personal gatherings. That can be checked for at a restaurant or other business. It can be checked for at work places. But how is that even feasible on a personal basis? Regardless of your thoughts on getting shots, that just seems like a rule that goes no-where.

Highest spike in new cases since last April everywhere (stupid contagious Omicron).

Starting this Monday, one new thing is that the government is making rapid testing kits free and available to the general public in drugstores. Kits of 5, limited to one kit per month. I dropped by my pharmacy to reserve my kit.

Since one of my aunts and uncles are inviting me to their Christmas supper with other relatives from all across the province, and since most of them are elderly, they're asking us to test ourselves before we arrive, just in case.
