Do you have anything going in the background when you paint? music, tv, other stuff? is it related to what you're painting?

I try to have something playing on the computer that I've already seen several times. Not so much for noise, but so that I can judge how long I've been painting without needing to stop and look at a clock (because I don't have any normal clocks in the rooms where I paint, and I have to turn my head a full 90 degrees to see the time on the computer, which the neck does not like these days). What plays is never intentionally related to what I'm doing, but since I like fantasy and sci fi overlap is unavoidable.

Another option is one of the many bird feeder or nest webcams that I've got bookmarked. It's especially interesting to see species that I'm not familiar with and it's fun trying to identify them. Here are some of them.

My cats go nuts for those videos!  If I had those on when painting I would have to spend all my time trying to keep them from jumping and swiping at my TV

Almost always I have YouTube, Twitch, or Spotify going. Or Netflix, or Disney+, but the last one is a lot more rarely.

It mainly depends on where I am at the time, and what I'm doing.  I'm really hoping to get a nice headphone amplifier sorted out for over at my assembly and long term project desk at some point though, because it would be nice to be able to use my Sennheiser HD 600's over there, instead of just my Audio Technica ATH-M50X's, so that way if hubby wants to talk, we still can.

But yeah, for almost everything, I have at least some sort of background noise going on, as it helps retain focus, as well as a relaxed state.  Sometimes though, it can be problematic, because I'm indecisive about musical moods on occasion.

It varies, sometimes it'll be a podcast (ie Kermode and Mayos film review), movies that I've seen a hundred times before or just music from my YouTube playlist. Basically something familiar, but awesome.

You, my friend, have just triggered a new obsession.  Why did I not know about this before. That Panama one is almost painful, since I have long wanted to go birding in Central America.

This is really sad, but we gave Kurogane my old Kindle fire when I upgraded. He LOVES those videos, but will suddenly flip it when he's excited. Not just wildlife stuff, but he'll happily watch MCU and anything with a decent does of action and/or profanity. He also loves David Attenborough, but who doesn't?

Oops! Sorry! Here hoping that you get to go someday. At least you'll know some of the species if you keep watching the live feeds  Also, make sure to check that one at night - there's a lot of bats that turn up too.

The great thing is that YouTube will just keep on finding feeder cams for you and a lot of the people running them also do highlight videos.

Understandably, this year has been a challenging one for wildlife watching. We've been(quite rightly) unable to head to all of our usual reserves, so the live streams have kept me somewhat sane. The early spring was particularly interesting as I had falcon, osprey, stork and curlew nests to jump between. I especially love the peregrine falcons at Salisbury and Chichester cathedrals as they're one of my favorite birds. Just heading that harsh khe-khe-kek noise that they make puts my soul at ease, mostly because I know that these fierce little arrowheads have carved out a place in the world despite the changes that we've made to their world.

Thank you very much!  I've already forwarded all of those to my wife.

That makes him truly Scottish, doesn't it? :poke:

If I have anything on it is sports, very rarely music.  The main requirement is that it be something I can miss 20 minutes of and it won't matter.  Given that I can completely tune out whatever is on, I frequently go with silence instead.

Radio, Twitch, or TV show I've watched many times. Something to keep my ears interested, but not so distracting that I have to look up at a screen.

My brain craves the secondary stimulation.

As I paint in the lounge, I have whatever my housemate is watching on TV going on in the background.

Sometimes. It's generally music; I try to avoid TV, since it can be distracting. I'll watch/listen to hockey on DVR though; it's easy to listen and I can back it up to see anything interesting that occurs during the game.

Not usually.

for reasons I am not happy about, I need to get cookies for a wish dragon. Choose a supernatural creature and tell me what kind of cookies do you get for them?

NO ONE gets my Christmas Cookies!
