RIP Charlie Pride

Country Music Legend Charlie Pride succumbed to complications from Covid-19 at age 86.

Pride was the first Black Singer/Musician to perform at the Grand Old Opry.

His biggest hit was "Kiss an Angel Good Morning" in the 1970s.

His last performance was a month ago at the CMA Awards, where he received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

To be honest, I thought he passed away in the 90s.

 

Not to say that reading that he passed away due to COVID19 complications makes it any easier to read.

He was also a pitcher for the Memphis Red Sox and the Boise Yankees and tried out for the New York Mets and California Angels.

I can't remember if it was me or my sister my mom was pregnant with, but they had tickets to see Charlie Pride in concert and gave them away to the neighbours because someone decided to come into the world that night.
