Question for January 9th:

Go to your unpainted hoard, close your eyes, and pull out a mini. What is it? Is it something you forgot you had? Pics are optional, but always welcome. (If your treasure trove is like Russian dolls, storage box within storage box, keep going until you get to a mini.)

Don't look while doing such?  There's a ton of poky bits in there!  I went for the box with the minis still in blisters....

Got a Skaven Assassin of all things.  Like, the ~ONLY~ Warhammer Fantasy blister in that entire box.....

Definitely didn't forget I had him.  I'd playfully say it's a sign to go back to painting some Skaven, but hard to say.  I always did like the model though.

If you have the misfortune to end up at my house right now, you can cook for yourself. And while you’re at it, clean up the kitchen and take out the trash.

Swears.

Does getting married count?

The Vault of Pack Rattiness is not something you want to stick your hand into blindly. I do, however, have two draws of spill over next to my painting table & PC. SO I opened the top drawer

AND pulled out a skeletal Voodoo Lady by FreeBooter. Her name is Estrella Nocturna:

To be honest, I had completely forgotten about her.

Sorry, it's packed in preparation for moving.

However, I can assure you that I have not forgotten anything I own. Otherwise, I'd end up buying duplicates, and I've NEVER done that.::D:

Mine are in my basement.  Hard to get to now because it is all torn up.  There is a 35' crack in the cement that I am having fixed.  Everything in one side is moved to the other so it is hard to move stuff to get to the unpainted containers inside containers.

My collection is too spread out to target the whole thing at once, but randomly reaching into the Cabinet of Unpainted Things got me this guy:-

This is Casket from Guild Ball.

I had not forgotten him. Like many of my Guild Ball minis he is always there, silently watching and waiting...

You don’t know what you are asking.  I resolved, without walking downstairs first, to open the top box in the middle row (since I had no idea what order they were in) and grab one from there.

Turned out to be vintage Minifigs historicals, and the grab turned up a sorting bag of DA23, Irish Dark Ages Chieftains....

I don’t specifically have a catalog number by catalog number inventory in my head, but I am generally aware that I have a cache of Minifigs DA figures.

So I've got four areas around my little hobby space where minis are stacking up. So to decide which one to choose from I'm rolling a four sider... 1. That corresponds to the pile of boxed minis as well as some shoe boxes and cigar boxes of loose minis. Setting aside the boxed minis, which are out in the open and can't really be randomly chosen, I'll roll odds/ evens to see what to pull from... 2. That's going to be a shoe box. Closing my eyes and reaching over it's this mess...

IMG_20210109_113114870.thumb.jpg.b27f5ffdeac5a7db8334f1e2711712da.jpg

Closing my eyes again and grabbing a bag it's...

IMG_20210109_113306420.thumb.jpg.c0e42c06b0c4a5917ec55dd778f0b4e4.jpg

Well, it appears to be a bag of minis from different manufacturers with a canine theme. So closing my eyes one more time and reaching in I get...

A cyber dog from the Shadowrun Ral Partha Corporate Guard Animals pack. I did not forget about this, though I haven't thought of it in a while. I've got a few of these painted up somewhere around here. My group hates these things. I'm going to move this to the shelves of "potentially getting painted" minis. Fun hunt, thanks.

The Unpainted Horde varies in location. The Witches, Witch Hunters, Angry Catholics, and non rank and file, non Bean Priest Dwarves live in their blisters pined to the walls. Rank and file Dwarves have their own box, old school undead live in scattered smaller boxes about the shelving, which leaves the Mr. Coffee Box of Randomness and Smaller Projects.....

100_2120.JPG.ed551661accfe6f4b0e4bece1d7ca512.JPG

Reaching therein I came across Elthin Bluesteel, Gunslinger, who eventually is going to be painted as Roland of Gilead. Not forgotten, but overshadowed by my larger projects for the forseeable future.

Exactly what I would have done. I've reached in to get mine, but the camera battery was dead. Once it's charged, I'll share mine.

You would've gotten to see mine, but I couldn't get my phones camera to focus on the mini - it kept focusing on the glare of the blister pack!

Umm, ok, this could take a bit....I WAS supposed to be working on my printers, but here goes.  Let's see I have....8 locations (we're going with 8, there might be more), so *grabs random set of dice* (notes that there are more than 8 locations in which dice are stored....).

20210109_IMG_1529.thumb.jpg.40114b69441c74e0cfdd1a9e28e48ad8.jpg

New dice, I should have know.....ok that is under my air brushing desk. *moves chair*.  That area is mostly basing supplies but there is a set of 6 drawers and a big box of the new Battletech KS under there.  d7, of course.....so d8,  rerolling 8s.

20210109_IMG_1530.thumb.jpg.02b977e6d281f219b09a89d34b4fde1a.jpg

Ok, drawer number 2.

*crawls half under desk, reaches blindly into drawer number 2, miraculously doesn't stab a finger*

Huh, I was expecting Clan War, but this is not Clan War.....

20210109_IMG_1531.jpg.f2cd8dd284af886c15c2fadf4ded72d0.jpg

That would be an Ork quarterback from the old copy of Bloodbowl I have.

I knew I had him (and the rest of the box figs) but didn't know where they were....I'd thought all of those drawers had old Clan Wars figures.

Probably good I rolled a 1 (7 wouldn't have been too bad either). Most of the rest I'd still be figuring out which box or tote to open for another half hour.....

Went in my original KS Bones Vampire Box, dug my hand into it, and blindly grabbed whatever was easiest to grab.

Tre Manor Orc Hunter with spear.

Could've dug into other crates, but I knew that in this crate they were easy to access.

Ok, I've got my main stash in the basement, and a smaller stash upstairs which houses what I've collected in the past two years. So we let the die decide (low results for downstairs, high results for upstairs):

Roll-1.jpg.3052674060b3f4f200015e235a72c3d7.jpg

Upstairs it is. I've got two boxes, stacked one on top of the other. So again, fate decides which box (again, high results are top box, low results for bottom):

Roll-2.jpg.a001de4a7a0f461951afcfada4aa9f2f.jpg

Into the lower box we go! Eyes closed, hand goes in and comes out with...

Roll-Result.thumb.jpg.35694f2c4489e9e2dcb846a0f03888f9.jpg

The pack donkey! Good to know that even with my eyes closed my hand can still manage to find my own arse... I hadn't forgotten about him, just didn't know which box he ended up in since he was a more recent acquisition (way early last year) and I've been reorganizing my room.

Ha ha, yah this is have to be my method as well. I'll post a day late or so for this one as I've got minis out in the garage, upstairs & next to both my resin & filament printers.

The rules: as they were last month (in addition to all regular forum rules) except where I sneakily changed them:

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question. †
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day, a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one... ††
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted sometime before 1 AM Reaper time (US Central).
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to Talespinner or Morihalda…
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.
      8. Pix always welcome.

The first question will need to be posted after a brief (10 minute) pause to foil the merging of posts.
The footnotes, because I can't resist doing †††footnotes:

      † I will aim for 0600 Reaper/Nottingham time.
††  If subs and backstops could wait until 11AM in Reaper/Denton's timezone to see if I remember.
      ††† …because I re-remembered how to do the dagger ( † ) symbol.
