If you have the misfortune to end up at my house right now, you can cook for yourself. And while you’re at it, clean up the kitchen and take out the trash.

Swears.

Does getting married count?

Question for January 8th:

How many alarms do you set to wake up in the morning (or your equivalent time of day if you have a non-traditional schedule)?

2.  One to get me up and a second just in case I forget to turn the first one on.

Question for January 9th:

Go to your unpainted hoard, close your eyes, and pull out a mini. What is it? Is it something you forgot you had? Pics are optional, but always welcome. (If your treasure trove is like Russian dolls, storage box within storage box, keep going until you get to a mini.)

I'm not near my trove at the moment so this will have to wait.

Question for January 10th:

Staying warm while you sleep in winter/cold temperatures: use as many blankets as needed, or crank up the heat so it feels like a tropical island?

More blankets with cool air. Hotter air makes it difficult to sleep and breathe

I turn the heat up to a comfortable level, it's not good to be too warm when you sleep. Except for last night, when the boilers cut out and there wasn't any heat in the entire building until late this morning. Fortunately I have some very high quality thermals and warm jackets. to get me through such times.

Thermostat is set to 69ºF

(21ºC for the Fahrenheit-challenged who may be reading along)

…and there is but the one blanket. I often feel uncomfortably hot under it. Griffins are almost like polar bears in certain regards

Our living room is typically around 25C (partially due to the hallways being set at such, and partially due to other reasons, namely keeping the bedroom warm as well), and bedroom winds up being... Well, it depends on the weather outside, truth be told.  But it can be anywhere from 15C to about 22C in the winter.  In the summer?  No comment.  Ugh, even two layers of light blocking it still gets unbearably hot in there in the summer...

So give me a nice blanket, and a cool 15-17C bedroom overnight...  Bonus points if it warms up to 20-22C right when I'm to wake up....

I am a blanket boy. Linus has always been a role model of mine.

When I was a boy, blankets were the thing...my Dad would shut of the boiler at night & start it up before we had to arise.

My last Winter on Long Island, the Old House had no heat at all. Being buried in blankets & sleeping bags was an exercise in futility.

Here in Texas, I run the heater long enough to get the chill off. One blanket is then sufficient.

Blanket(s).

Except in extenuating circumstances, it's just one blanket.

Blanket, but have to limit them or get too warm.

I'd prefer the heat cranked up, but it's a big house and is too expensive. So I make do with several blankets, I have about three on my currently. And a Slanket (a blanket with sleeves, it was the original Snuggie) for reading.

Yes.  I turn up the heat to be comfortable, but I still need a blanket no matter how warm it is.  I need the feeling of a blanket on me to sleep well, even in the middle of summer.  Something heavier than a sheet.

I'm a bit of a space heater. And I grew up in a big old farm house with no heat in the bedrooms.

So, the heat is off in the bedroom.  The window stays open a bit unless it gets below about -15 C (5 F) or so (unless it is really windy, but that is a noise thing).  The fan stays on all night. And usually just one blanket.

The rules: as they were last month (in addition to all regular forum rules) except where I sneakily changed them:

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question. †
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day, a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one... ††
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted sometime before 1 AM Reaper time (US Central).
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to Talespinner or Morihalda…
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.
      8. Pix always welcome.

The first question will need to be posted after a brief (10 minute) pause to foil the merging of posts.
The footnotes, because I can't resist doing †††footnotes:

      † I will aim for 0600 Reaper/Nottingham time.
††  If subs and backstops could wait until 11AM in Reaper/Denton's timezone to see if I remember.
      ††† …because I re-remembered how to do the dagger ( † ) symbol.
